Chris: I agree with you, for example I do not think Tim at LM is so wonderful because he sucked up so many orders around the country without disclosing that he did not have enough allocations to fill those orders timely. You statement implies that everyone was aware of and knew about the allocation system Ford uses prior to ordering. I know that myself and many others (based on their statements on MTC) that a majority of the folks who ordered had no idea there was an allocation system let alone know that it was biased against smaller dealerships. Speaking for myself, I ordered on July 5th from Holmes Tuttle Ford, a branch of Jim Click Ford the only Ford dealership in Tucson. I say a branch because it has a different name, but is owned by Jim Click, so basically the same dealership on so i thought. Jim Click Ford is one of the top 15 Ford dealers in the country. Yet, I still haven't received a build date! I've seen a 6 Mavericks from Jim Click and only 2 from Holmes Tuttle, so it appears that even though HT is part of JC the allocations aren't! When I found out about Ford's allocation system I figured I was OK because I was "part" of JC, but nope HT is treated as a small dealership when it come allocations. So yeah I do think Ford's allocation system sucks, because I figured that ordering online and receiving notice from Ford my order was accepted, that the day I was placed in a long line and that my order would be built before people who ordered in September, October, November, December, January and now February! Heck, there's even one person who's already received 2 Mavericks and has a build date for a third! So I'm not a fan of the allocation system![]()
He took orders from June and July that are not built yet even though people who ordered from other dealers in Sept and Oct are already driving their Mav. It's not right.
LM now has over 500 orders and their line is still 300-400 long. Now the chip shortage is getting worse. People who should have been already driving their Mavs if they ordered from their local dealer like I did, now have to decide to drop lux or the safety features of 360 to get built. Compromising my family's safety for blind spot and tech we are now used to is not an option. Injury attorneys could come after LM if they did not properly disclose the allocation process, and then got into a bad wreck after dropping 360 in order to get built.
Anyone who is still on permanent wait status should have been advised by their dealer that their line is too long and they should order from someone else. But Tim and the others are salesmen who may not disclose something that will make them lose a sale and bonuses.
Ford should build your Maverick based on date of order, no matter which dealer you use. Their attempt to be fair to dealers with allocations, is very unfair to buyers when others are able to cut the line in front of them.
