Pulled this image from another maverick group. Looks like ford is aware of the radio tuning issues.

Good to know they are aware and already working on a software patch.

Also good to know its a software issue and not a hardware one. Way easier to patch a computer than reinstall a new radio.

Hopefully they will also address the popup issue when a phone with fordpass app is in the truck while its moving.

@Brian_J thanks for posting this. I've purposely avoided the facebook group for months now. (assuming that's where you found it)

While I agree a software patch is easier than a hardware issue, I didn't see anything in the message above indicating that it is a software issue. Perhaps you have other information?

The problem I have had is with the tuning knob. When I turn the manual tuner knob it appears that the system is programmed to revert back to the previous station if the new set frequency is not picking up a station. But what happens to me, and it is much worse when it is cold outside, the station reverts back to the previous while I am still turning the knob. Is this the problem that this is referencing?

I have found that when it gets below 20F in the car, the stereo lags real bad and is unusable until the cab warms up. Living in Chicago, this will be problem for the next three months.

Also, the left most button, which brings you back to the audio mode selection screen, doesn't work all the time. So sometimes I have to disconnect my phone to get back to the radio.

I've enjoyed the car, but the issues with the Sync system are annoying enough to have me already contemplating how long I want to keep it.

And if you enable Ford Pass in Sync, you have to acknowledge a popup every time you start the car.

Is this a problem with the Lariat too? Doesn't the Lariat use the Sync 3?

TFL mentioned their loaner hybrid maverick had this issue. Glad it is just the radio. I use apple carplay.

I found the answer to Maverick radio problem. Just use double sided tape to attach this right over the built-in one 😉

In all seriousness, I suspect the radio problem is caused by a failure to revert back to manual mode after syncing your phone via Bluetooth or USB. I noticed that even when my phone is not connected and BT is off, it displays a message when I get in my car that a device wants to connect to my phone. The BT icon even shows at the top of my screen when it's off. I bet if I tell my phone to forget the Maverick and/or tell the Maverick to forget my phone, the radio will work fine until the next time I connect.
