having installed sound deadener in a previously owned suv, I'll agree that adding it to the maverick will give you the illusion of a higher quality vehicle. start there and see how you fell about it. lubing the latch wont do anything to improve the door closing experience imo.

I angle my Trek (all aluminum) then put a strap around the seat post base. I’m sure that’s less stress than what the bike see while riding w you on it. I wouldn’t use a ratchet strap though. Just use a pull to tighten 1” strap to keep it from bouncing around.
