So I worked at Ford for long time and GM before that. Owned numerous vehicles while an employee of both companies.

I have never purchased a first year model of anything. Kinda interesting reading all the excitement.

How many others are making the Maverick their first model year purchase?
Yes and no one more surprised than me, first year model on the Bronco Sport and Maverick. Both kinda clicked for us.

First new car/new model, first Ford, and first truck.

The only reason why I'm not waiting a year is because I think Ford trucks in general are good. If it has significant issues, then this will be my first and last Ford purchase.

Bought my Forester in it's first model year after a major redesign, I have no hesitance for adopting new models, especially ones that repurpose many components like Mav.

Third time is the charm for me! Previously had a 2001 Civic Ex coupe manual and a 2012 Camry LE, both were bought used. I absolutely hated the Camry despite it being a nice car with low mileage and the Civic I liked but it was 1 foot in the grave so it didn’t last more than a couple of months before I had to trade it in.

Looking forward to the Maverick, I’m confident it’ll be well-built as I’ve had good luck with my Fords and it seems like this platform shares a lot with the Escape and Bronco Sport which helps.

My 96 Ford Escort LX coupe manual years ago was built in the same plant I believe as the Maverick as I remember the door sticker said “made in Mexico” on it to my surprise. I beat the living tar out of that vehicle, driving 90-130 miles a day through backroads and rough highways never skipping a beat. I barely maintained it because I was so broke at the time but it never broke down and always returned excellent gas mileage. That helped convince me that the Maverick may not be perfect but it’ll be reliable and decent because that little escort from Mexico was sure a tank through the hell it had to endure years ago.

This will be my 2nd 1st year model vehicle. My first one was 2013 Mazda CX-5. I will be giving this to one of my adult kids. Only recently did I spend any money on a repair...I spent $50 on a shift sensor. However, since this is a Ford, I will be purchasing an extended warranty since I plan to keep it 10 years.

Got a telluride for my wife when they first arrived. 25k miles in and absolutely zero issues so far.

Random tangent: the 2013 CX-5 was the runner up in my search when I went Forester lol. The deciding factors were a worse approach angle on the CX-5 and I hated how pushy the dealership salesmen were. No regrets :)

For many years(I'm 54) I have been telling myself to never buy a "first model year" and a 4 cylinder equipped vehicle. Those two rules went out the window obviously and I'm not to worried about it.
BTW the last new vehicle I purchased was a "last" year of production vehicle. And I still own it.

I've purchased quite a few first year models over the years, from numerous mfgr's, the only one I can recall being more problematic than average was my wife's '16 Honda Pilot. One of my favorites was my '15 F150. Feeling confident the Mav will be great. 🤠

First year Fj Cruiser , best truck ever . That said , the Bronco rollout is a hot mess , lotsa issues and getting top dollar . I don't trust Ford at the moment but I really like this little truck .

This will be my first first-MY, as well as the first vehicle ordered and not bought off of the lot. I have no reason to believe I'll be sorry, my six previous Fords have all served me well.

Maverick will be my very first Ford. I bought my current Kia Niro with a leap of faith when it was first year model...and it has been 100% flawless. It;s only got 22k miles and maintains 49-53 mpg's. I hate to trade it in but I'm single and dont need two vehicles.....but it will be a good hybrid for someone who wants to save $$$$ by not buying brand new.
Just rec'd notice today my Maverick hybrid XLT/360Focus has been moved up to Number 2 from previous 19 10 status. I expect to hear from Ford very soon.

This will be my first model year purchase also, I know the horror stories you hear, but my current Ford, a 2004 Taurus I ordered new has been the most reliable vehicle I have had in my 42 years of driving, so I am willing to take a chance on another Ford.
