So I would lose the ability to start the car with my phone but the keyfob could still start it remotely, correct?
And also this would prevent them from pushing any updates?

FOB still works, phone won't work. If we ever see any updates which are few and far between putting the fuse back in long enough to connect to the WIFI and download the updates shouldn't be much of a problem. Ford doesn't appear to be prioritizing OTA updates for the Maverick.

Even then I thought only "Entertainment System" updates were possible. No drive-ability software could be done over the air.

And you don't want that anyway.

Think of the liability if something went wrong / if it missed a bit or byte over the air. It might "brick" in your driveway or worse; do something dangerous.

Well Ford does have some experience now with the updates. I follow the guys with Lightnings and things appear to be getting better all the time now and they have a pretty steady stream of updates that are making things better for the EV driver and the things that matter to them. The Maverick isn't in the same ecosystem as the Lightning so I don't know that much would help.

How much of a drain is it? I have had my 2024 Hybrid for 16 Months and have not noticed any issues related to the battery.
Up to 50 mA at least once per hour in normal sleep mode.
It has to keep the network connection active incase you want to reach it remotely thru the Fordpass app for some action.
If great AT&T signal where parked, down around 25 mA.

Fordpass stats are based on last upload at time of last parked & shutoff.
Unless something reaches warning stage and new data sent up - like tire going flat, so no surprises in the morning rushing to work, or battery level went too low so warning of the TCU being disabled for deep sleep so it still starts (unless a parasitic draw finished the battery off).

If really not driven much, that can add up, and not be offset enough by the low charging system strategy.

This is one of those "it depends" kind of things. When the vehicle is sitting parked for extended periods of time everything is supposed to shut down and go into a sleep mode and not use power. Only to be woken up by activity. One of those activities is the phone app. Another can be the mothership pinging, pulling data, or updates. I don't think anyone is certain exactly what activities are that are creating this problem. I know with other vehicles I have owned it has been eventually traced back to poorly coded apps constantly waking up the vehicle. If you live in a poor cellular coverage area this too can cause the vehicle to keep trying to reach a network. In my case the building is metal where the truck is kept and there is no cell signal in there. So I know it is one of the possible contributors to this behavior.

So the long story short is no one knows for sure what is triggering the drain issues. The list is long what it could be, but it has not been sorted out. So my work around to avoid one of the possible issues is to just pull the F11 so that my truck doesn't have any external factors waking it up and sucking the 12v to death over time. If you are driving your truck daily then likely the 12v is getting a charge frequently enough you may not see the issue. For those that don't drive as much or infrequent then it is more likely to affect those batteries. Once the vehicle is "awake" the drain can be significant and takes a while before it goes back into hibernation. The cellular modem itself doesn't draw a huge amount of power by itself. Just one of the side effects of everything connected and online 24/7/365 that hasn't been sorted out would be the guess.
There have been some good troubleshooting posts on potentials.
A malfunctioning TCU was at least twice, kept the power at max for whatever fault it had, but more than sleep mode so it drained overnight or 2 nights.

Someone else had their main long parking spots where AT&T signal was terrible or non-existent - faster drain there. Just guessing the final park data was attempting to be uploaded, and the normal timeout didn't occur, so it kept it up constantly for hours. Probably need a system reset for that one (have you turned it off and back on? SSM for ACCM started out saying disconnect neg terminal for poweroff)

Another noticed their fan going hours after turning off truck and leaving - they stopped leaving the AC on when they turned truck off. So perhaps related to the SSM that ended up being the ACCM software upgrade.

But except for the true parasitic drains well above expected - chalk the normally seen issue up to cheaper not great quality batteries and very questionable charging strategy.

If you are referring to the 22MY your stats indicate - the only update would be the infotainment center, and only thru WiFi. Which will still work.
If you got the rearview camera recall done - you are up to date - don't expect anymore on that ancient system that will work OTA.

If you have 25MY not indicated - different story.

I agree, blocking them from pushing anything is a plus to me.

Yes I have a 22 and it had the mirror recall done a few weeks back.

You won't need to do that. Pulling the fuse doesn't disable Wi-Fi, it disables cellular functionality.

Is it hard to get in to there to access the fusebox?
You do not have to drop and remove the glove box in order to access the fuse panel. You have to remove the plastic cover plate that covers the fuse box. That is done while kneeling down with the passenger door open.
Refer to post #3
This is the panel 👇Passenger side footwell

Sorry, I assumed it killed wifi... if that is the case it is even easier.

I pulled this fuse a couple months after buying the Maverick, & in over 3 years I have never had any of the electrical or battery issues that so many on this site have had, might be something to it!

I've had mine for 4 months and haven't had any issues with battery drain, of course it hasn't sat for than 2 days without being driven 🙃
