Emergency brake

Hello I have a 2023 Maverick Hybrid for about 9 months. About 5 months ago the emergency brake would randomly come on when I parked my truck. It happens about every couple of weeks. I’ve had it in for repairs 3 times but Ford can’t find anything wrong. Not only that but they can’t tell me what it’s supposed to do. Is it supposed to come on every time I park or only on an incline? Or not at all unless I pull the brake handle. Has anyone had this issue? If not can you tell me what it’s supposed to do?

Yes, there is an incline sensor in the system. I was able to check it out at different places in my own driveway. I'm not sure of the exact percentage where it comes on automatically.

I remember seeing 5% grade somewhere.

Mine comes on when I shift from drive to park with light brake pressure. Error comes up on the dash though that I shifted without my foot on the brake or something.

I'm trying to figure out how to make my parking brake come on every time i shift to park. I had a timberline explorer as a loaner for a week that did this .

Parking brake handle?? = Parking brake is actually electrically activated by a switch, like a power window switch, only wider, with an icon kinda like ((P)) just aft of the rotary gear selector knob. Pull up to engage, push down to disengage parking brake.

It's next to the gear selector, the switch with the ((P)) icon. It functions similarly to the window switches, where you can press down or pull up. Pull up to engage the electronic parking brake. Press to release. The instrument cluster will confirm.

If you do not manually release it, it will automatically release when you shift into gear and apply light throttle pressure.

Since it's an electronic parking brake, I'd have to guess there is a sensor acting up somewhere.
I don' t know the electric diagram specifics, but just MAYBE if the sensor is on one fuse, and the parking brake is on a DIFFERENT fuse, you could probably help find out if it's the sensor by removing the parking brake sensor fuse.

I'm currently enrolled in Brakes class for my automotive tech school, so my suggestions are worth what you paid for them!

Mine doesn’t release if you apply throttle pressure. I always have to manually release it.
