I am pretty new to working on my own truck so bear with me. My emergency parking brake switch is working just fine, but some of the thin plastic covering on the top has broken off from regular use. I was thinking about buying a replacement switch (link below) and installing it myself (for cosmetic purposes only), but I was hoping to get some clarification from y'all before doing it.
As anyone on this forum replaced their parking brake switch? The process seems to be pretty straightforward -- remove the trim panels and replace the switch. However, most of the brake maintenance posts have talked about putting the Maverick into "brake maintenance mode". From what I read, it seemed that mode would only be necessary if I were to replace the actual brake pads themselves (for safety reasons), not the parking brake switch. This is leading me to thinking that the maintenance mode may be unnecessary for a switch change, but I didn't want to try to replace the switch without at least asking the question. Any more info on this would be greatly appreciated.
Also, does anyone have any advice for which panel covers to remove to disconnect the switch? I have the tools to remove the panels, but I didn't want to start prying without knowing which panels actually should be removed. Any more help on this would also be fantastic.
I have included some pictures below to help. Main questions are:
1. Has anyone replaced their EPB before? How did it go?
2. To replace the EPB switch, do I need to put my Mav into brake maintenance mode?
3. Any advice on which trim panels to remove?
