The marketing focused on young urbanites, the exact kind of people who probably look with disdain at anyone who owns a pickup truck. Ford probably felt that group would gravitate to the unibody Maverick, but they haven’t rallied around the Honda Ridgeline and probably won’t be all over the Hyundai Santa Cruz, so that’s pretty much a pipe dream.
As someone squarely in that demographic this is the dumbest take. Urbanites don't look down on truck owners they look down on pristine-unused-dually-blackedout-RealTruck™-status symbols.

I've owned a truck all my life and have never gotten shit for it. Not from coffee snobs, oogles, punks (crusty to bike), vegans, yippies, hipsters or even "climate warriors". They all understand a used truck is a good truck.

I see plenty of Rangers, Tacoma's and Ridgelines around but they aren't the same as the Mav. I'm getting a new hybrid truck for $25k out the door, and you aren't gonna find that in a Tacoma.

Bad take = click bait outrage = $$$
That's all this is. Hot takes for clicks.

This is the best review someone could come up with?
The Kia Soul may be my backup plan if anything goes amiss with my future Maverick purchase. Much as I hate to admit that I used to make fun of the Soul, it certainly does what it needs to do with a maximum of space in the smallest footprint possible. Glad to hear you've been happy with yours. Gives me hope!
exactly what drew me to the Soul. It's useful. The back seat is plenty big enough for adult passengers (lots of legroom in the back) and cargo is decent with the seats folded down. I'm always amazed at how short the car is (lengthwise)....and no topping the 5 year warranty. It's a great value. Biggest complaint is gas mileage. I only get around 25-26 city. #bringonthehybridmaverick!

That 25-26 was what I could hope for on a good day when I had my Honda Element. Usually 23 in the city, maybe with a tailwind 30'ish on the highway. Not the most aerodynamic, but then look what we're all hoping to get. When I first saw a photo of the Maverick, the bed was so short I thought it was a Kia Soul and had a WTF moment until I got into the meat and potatoes of research on this cool little truck. Ford is stealing me away from Honda ownership after 23 years, and I'm finally not only buying my first truck, but my first Ford.

So he deleted all the comments. I added another, and he deleted it too. Let’s do a little spamming shall we?
I added a comment a few hours ago. It was deleted, and commenting is now turned off.

I didnt see any serious credentials from staff that would make me dismiss or question my own research or due diligence
It does say that the writer has liked cars since he was a little kid. What more credentials would you like to see?

Yeah, probably played with Matchbox cars till someone showed him a Mattel Hotwheel blew the doors off his Matchbox and cried all the way home to Mommy.
His buyers remorse continues to this day. BooHoo.

Yeah that review is 🐂💩. One reason I purchased this truck was the video reviews. Even reviewers who were skeptical were smiling after a test drive. After I had my test drive and the same look on my face, I made the buy decision. This reviewer clearly has never driven the truck.
I had a smile on my face the first time I drove my Mav, and it still makes me smile every time I walk up to it and drive it. When I park, I glance back to admire it. It's not a perfect vehicle, but it's an ideal vehicle. I don't regret buying it one bit.

The idiot author is better off writing porn reviews in his mom's basement. He's a total j**k**f.

If this vehicle is so bad, then why are the reviews from owners and other reviewers so overwhelmingly positive? And why are so many of us who are on this forum anxiously waiting for a chance to own one? He talks about low sales numbers, but the only reason Ford hasn't sold a lot more Mavs is that they can't make them fast enough. Like you said, unintelligent, uninformed review.

Please build me a ridgeline or santa cruz for 23k and get 40mpg. In most states you can't tow over 3500lbs without trailer brakes and damn the maverick get a trailer brake control built in. That was a stupid article.

He must doesn't have a Clue about All that's waiting to get one (back order so to speak).. I agree with the above poster , many didn't even see or heard of a Maverick commercial or knew they were selling such as far as advertisement goes... I Showed my coworker (who just bought a used Ranger) my congratulations order email... He said what's that?.... A Maverick... from who?.......Ford.....
how much about $30-$35K?... .... Nope starts out at $19995:oops:..........He said NO WAY there is No new Truck for that price... I kept showing him he said If I would have known that I would have bought that instead of the Ranger I bought...Then I told him about the MPG.. blew his mind
Envy is still Green:LOL:
My story too. Never heard of the Maverick until I went to Ford.com to see what I could replace my soon to be end of lease Escape. Couldn't believe the price. Mentioned to my brother I was getting a Maverick, and he said, they're bringing back the car?

I don't think so. He removed my negative comment that scolded him for not researching the subject. He has removed all comments and locked the story so no comments can be left. But to be fair I ended the the message with calling the author a moron and told him he should have really checked out www.mavericktruckclub.com for all the info to write a well rounded informative article.

I like the part where he cites sales numbers, without context, as evidence the Maverick is a flop.
Sold out.
How could the numbers increase?
