As someone squarely in that demographic this is the dumbest take. Urbanites don't look down on truck owners they look down on pristine-unused-dually-blackedout-RealTruck™-status symbols. The marketing focused on young urbanites, the exact kind of people who probably look with disdain at anyone who owns a pickup truck. Ford probably felt that group would gravitate to the unibody Maverick, but they haven’t rallied around the Honda Ridgeline and probably won’t be all over the Hyundai Santa Cruz, so that’s pretty much a pipe dream.
I've owned a truck all my life and have never gotten shit for it. Not from coffee snobs, oogles, punks (crusty to bike), vegans, yippies, hipsters or even "climate warriors". They all understand a used truck is a good truck.
I see plenty of Rangers, Tacoma's and Ridgelines around but they aren't the same as the Mav. I'm getting a new hybrid truck for $25k out the door, and you aren't gonna find that in a Tacoma.
Bad take = click bait outrage = $$$
That's all this is. Hot takes for clicks.
