While I do believe a lot of times it is operator error, I have caught myself locking it unintentionally, everything that the vehicle does goes through the computer. Computers do get glitches. So just about anything is possible.

I just find it amazing, that out of all the owners that have adamantly claimed auto locking happened to them. Not one has been able to **honestly video record the doors Auto locking ie computer glitch.
Showing the door is unlocked when it is closed.

**meaning both key fobs in view of the camera.

I get it. Nobody intentionally locks themselves out. That’s why it’s always a “what the hell” moment when you come back to a locked door. That’s why I spent the extra 190 dollars for the keypad. Most of the time I do intentionally lock my keys in the truck.
190 dollars vs the 90 that my buddy paid for his on his ranger. We ordered our trucks at the same time. (I know, that’s adorable). I was a little put off by the price difference.

I'm not saying I use/used the keypads on my Fords daily. I do use them quite often and I'm glad I have the keypad. I'm really surprised Ford got rid of keypads as a factory option on all their vehicles. I think the stick on keypads are clunky looking in comparison to the factory ones.

I'm still hoping the OP "FrankFord" returns to the forum, with an update.

It does not lock automatically.
It is not something that can happen on the truck.
This is how it's happening.

Here is a video.

Unless somebody can post a honest video showing that it auto locks by itself. I have to believe it's driver error.
If you have or can make a video showing the Maverick Auto locking with the fob inside please post one.
I just made a video of my 2024 Maverick door locking issue. After turning car off but leaving keys in ignition to grab something, exit vehicle, and 45 seconds after door closes a couple under dash dash servos can be heard engaging and then a click from drivers door. Just sent it to Ford. They had already confirmed with our dealer that they are aware of the problem, it is software related, no hardware or wiring issue is info, and they are working on it.

FYI.

“Hey Glen… we got a live one!!” oh no, you didn’t. Oh yes, I did. 😂😂😂😂
I'm still waiting for a Clear, Honest video showing...
1. Driver's door being unlocked when closed, 2. both FOBS in hand, 3. hearing the door lock.
Heck, I'm still waiting for "FrankFord" to make a clear video.
Very quickly after his first post he make a video. He emailed it to me. It was too long to post here.
It was very nice of him to do that and I thanked him.
The problem with the video was he panned so fast, you couldn't make out whether the manual lever was unlocked or locked. Unfortunately "FrankFord" has not posted to this since. 🤷‍♂️
We will see what gets posted.

Yes the thing is I done it a couple times myself accidentally hitting the manual lock lever it is easy to hit it opening the door. Thankfully my 2022 Maverick has the keypad and I just punch in the number and the door is unlocked. I think that operator error and a rather bad location for the lock lever is to blame equally.

I still firmly believe it does happen both ways. The majority of accidental lock outs are probably operator error, I’ve done it myself. On the other hand, you can’t rule out the computer arbitrarily saying “lock the door”.

You can choose to believe what you want, but as of yet there has been no evidence provided that it happens.

However, you certainly can rule out a computer doing anything arbitrarily, meaning "randomly or by chance". Computers are programmed to what they do, intentionally or unintentionally. It could be that there's a bug in the code allowing it to happen, but that wouldn't be commanding an action "arbitrarily".

I think it's a little funny how everyone says..."Thankfully I have the keypad" when they do the accidental door lock push. You don't HAVE to have it. Just walk around the truck to your passenger door and push the unlock button with the symbol.....

It is for the majority of folks to use whatever is fast and handy in a head slap error and it’s the keypad that’s right in front of our face. It is also quick and simple to go to the first thing right on the door.

Well, you could have your unlock settings such that after driving above 6 mph, and then stopping and parking, ONLY the driver's door unlocks upon open.
Combined with unlock setting of only driver's door for single unlock fob button press, don't even have to go above 6 mph.

In which case you accidentally manually lock it - you are out. Except for Fordpass or keypad.
