Do people not see how easy it is to "bump" this and lock the door when opening it? This isn't some big mystery folks!

It isn't bumping the button. It is bumping the actual pointy plastic manual lock lever that is "out"/not flush when unlocked and "in"/flush when locked/bumped with a hand pulling on the door handle. Bumping it pushes it back flush with the rest of the door handle and locks the door. I'm not sure why so many folks are like "IT IS SO MYSTERIOUS....IT ONLY HAPPENS TO THE DOOR THAT A HUMAN IS EXITING AND NONE OF MY OTHER DOORS WHERE A PASSENGER DIDN'T TOUCH ANYTHING.....SO WEIRD!"
So it's just a shitty design then. I dunno, never had this issue. Still not a fan of the design.

Ohh I agree, crappy design for anyone with hands larger than a baby. I have had it happen to me maybe 2 or 3 times, but I have small hands. By the third time it happened to me, I realized it was happening in real time and pulled it back unlocked before I closed my door.

I play with fire by leaving my truck running while I am not in it almost daily..... Only been actually locked out once.

wonder how many pages this will go where people say your hitting the handle with your hand followed by the others who say its happening on its own. What's the over under?

This is only tangentially on-topic, but I have a confession to make: I thought the door-mounted keypads on Fords were the dumbest things ever, for years... I could not see a reason for them at all.

Now that I have lived with one for all of two months, I get it. Very handy. It is probably less handy on Lariats, where you don't have to pull your key out of your pocket - but on the lower trims, not having to fetch/carry/pull out my key for every single thing is pretty neat.

Also: I probably won't get locked out of my truck whether I ever accidentally hit any buttons or not. I was wrong, I admit it. Carry on. :)

I think it will die down, but come up again in a brand new thread every few months. I know this isn't the first time I have loudly yelled "IT IS YOUR HAND". Ha!

Or......we heard about a recall and I have to admit I was wrong.

Read one of the threads before I got my Maverick and noticed how easy it is to lock the door with your hand. Can confirm that the same motion you use to open the door handle, will lock your door just as easy.

3 Out of 5 times locked in my driveway when I was actually testing the issue tells me it's an issue. If the keys are not in the ignition or close by it doesn't happen. I've been testing for a living for 30 years I know how to setup a test.

Yup, happens to me as well. Its the size of your hand and where the lock and power switch is.

Reports of this issue date back almost to the first Maverick deliveries (and other models before then). And yet, has a single person claiming the vehicle locks only the driver door all on its own, ever actually heard the power locks activate uncommanded? Haven't seen a report of that yet.

If you pull the handle, release, and then push the door right there, you could easily push the lock in without noticing. My preference/reflex is to reach down lower for the grab handle/armrest.

Yea good point because that's definitely what I thought they were referencing.

I also call BS on bumping anything...whether it be the manual or the auto lock button. Mine also does it on my 2024 Hybrid XLT. My dealer says... Yeah we have had people say that and we don't know why it does it, just use the app to open it. What if your phone is also in your truck with your keys? Thankfully it's only the drivers door but like was stated above, it's embarrassing to be in public and have to open your passenger door or your back door to reach in and unlock your drivers door. Totally unacceptable and Ford should find a fix for it.

I changed the remote unlock setting to just the front door unless I double-press.
So the other doors weren't unlocked.

I assumed it was a safety thing - left key in car, we'll lock the door for you, since we watch doors open & close and count and we think you got out.

Delt with backseat person moving seats and putting on new seatbelt. System thought new person so kept beeping that a seat belt was undone. We opened door while driving to pretend to push them out - it worked & beeping stopped. Kid thought it was hilarious.

Mine has been doing it intermittently since new. Usually when I’m going to work. Keys in console. Not hitting anything. Check door when I get out -unlocked- next morning locked! I’m starting to go with the Gremlin issue. Maybe that’s why FordPass is free….gives them a workaround. Otherwise love the truck. Please let us know when the Ford “ENGINEERS” come up with a fix. Did a trucklet this size equipped with the “Poverty Package” really need power locks and power windows?….Just saying….
