I really don't think this is user error at this point. The door just locked on its own.
There are exactly two ways to only lock the driver's door:

  1. Use the key to lock the door
  2. Press the manual lock lever behind the latch handle on the driver's door
All other methods (automatic or manual) lock all doors. The BCM doesn't have the ability to command only one door to be locked. Since the keys were in the console, it's not a mystery what happened.

this automatic self locking has been claimed dozens of times but never proven with video.

I had this happen to me the other day when I got out to fill up with gas.

Phone was in the truck. Keys were in the center console. Got out and shut the driver's side door by pushing it shut while touching the metal frame of the door (made sure not to even brush the handle, as I had heard that can be the cause, so I make a habit of keeping aware how i shut the door).

Driver's door locked immediately upon closing the door. I absolutely freaked out thinking my keys had locked in the truck (along with my phone so i couldn't unlock via app). Thankfully, the back door was unlocked, but that could have been a day-ruiner for me.

I really don't think this is user error at this point. The door just locked on its own.
While there have been comments on the keyless-entry on 25MY behaving different than prior years - it's usually a comment of a time span before an all-lock seems to happen if keys left in cabin (can't recall if it had to be running or not)

Yours is rare that you heard the locking mechanism happen on the driver's door (you did hear it right?) immediately, but not the other doors.

Sounds like a situation you could duplicate it while doing a video.
Which is always the request.

My 2022 Maverick locks and unlocks itself a bunch of times any time I wash the car and happen to hit the keypad on the door frame with water from the hose. My wife's 2020 Explorer has always done the same thing. Even with the hose on "shower" it will sometimes lock or unlock it

1991 was the first time I had a Ford vehicle with the door keypad. I've had in many other Fords including my current Maverick I have never had a problem with it locking while washing it or driving it through a tunnel car wash with the high- pressure sprayers.🤷‍♂️
I vacuum my truck first so when I get in it and drive it over to the entrance I don't drive fast enough for it to relock.

Honestly, I don't recall if I heard the mechanism or not. This happened a few days ago at this point.

Mine started doing something similar a few weeks back. I thought it was a bad sensor at first, but after checking everything else, I had someone from Commercial Locksmith Services take a look. Turned out to be a faulty actuator in the door that wasn’t closing the circuit right, so it kept trying to lock. They fixed it fast and didn’t charge much. Probably saved me from replacing stuff I didn’t need to.

Mine was doing the same until I adjusted the auto-lock settings in the menu—turned off auto-lock when walking away and it stopped randomly locking on its own.
This setting is where exactly?

There's autolock after you start driving - you mean that setting?

Autolock Requirements

Autolock locks all the doors after:
  1. All doors are closed and the ignition is on.
  1. Your vehicle speed exceeds 12 mph (20 km/h).
Autolock repeats if:
  1. Your vehicle is stopped.
  1. Any door is opened and closed again.
  1. Your vehicle speed exceeds 12 mph (20 km/h).
