heck, at least through the late 70s, by the time a GM was ten or twenty years old, you could pull the key out of most with the engine running!

But covered in depth on this forumI originally thougt my 24 XLT was auto-locking. I now think it happened due to my hand hitting the manual lock when I opened the door. I got to noticing the other three doors were unlocked. Often all doors were locked like auto lock. I discovered that I was hitting the lock button with my index finger when pushing the door open. The proximity of these controls is not well thought out or, it saved money in production cost to cram them all together on one panel. I feel that it can auto-lock with key inserted and engine running. I had that happen at the dealership when buying the truck. I have not had that happen since so it may have been due to hand hitting locks. I leave the window down enough to reach in an unlock the door if I leave it running so the dog gets AC. Dog takes care of security. Nothing on any of this is in the owner's manual.
Glen, sorry you are frustrated by the redundancy of these posts. In my working career I had to deal with many employees and the public, so I am not annoyed by answering questions multiply times. I am retired so I have time on my hands. With the public I would get asked the same question 100s of times. I had to tell myself that it was the first time each indvidual had ask the question. It's okay, and I may well post this response several more times..

And again and again. Same results. People are accidentally locking their own door.
Until somebody can prove otherwise.
I sent a DM to the OP "Frankford" asking for an update...
The frustration is from seeing new threads where OP doesn't even bother to do a simple thread title Search, which will turn up multiple threads about this dead horse.Glen, sorry you are frustrated by the redundancy of these posts. Maybe we could revoke their membership, and refund their membersp fee.The frustration is from seeing new threads where OP doesn't even bother to do a simple thread title Search, which will turn up multiple threads about this dead horse.
Exactly, had a public facing job with the same kind of thing for 8 years, don't miss it, but doesn't bother me either.Glen, sorry you are frustrated by the redundancy of these posts. My Mav is a 24 so next year when the 26 comes out I will have to stop posting on any operational issue as my info wil be obsolete. My XLT does not have many of the creature fetures included in other trim levels, which is one of the reasons I bought it, and things change with every model year. I don't have sync on my truck so I read about some issues with that but it doesn't concern me, nor do posts that are pre 2023 as features are different. I feel that we can be more tollerant of people who are new posters.Exactly, had a public facing job with the same kind of thing for 8 years, don't miss it, but doesn't bother me either.
We can always just link them to existing threads on the topic as well.
Purposely designed for those who wish to leave vehicle running during any weather or reason while they will be too far or even out of sight. Also remote start will not happen if truck cannot be locked."No repair attempts should be made as this is design intent"
Oh Ford...how about designing this? If the key is in in the ignition, the vehicle is in park, and the driver door goes from opened to closed, then an unlock command is automatically sent for the driver door. It should not be possible to lock yourself out of a modern vehicle while it's running.

It does not lock automatically. It is not something that can happen on the truck. This is how it's happening.![]()
Here is a video.
Unless somebody can post a honest video showing that it auto locks by itself. I have to believe it's driver error.
If you have or can make a video showing the Maverick Auto locking with the fob inside please post one.
I have a 2024 XLT Eco Boost.
Is there something I’m missing.
If I open the truck start the truck and close the door. The door locks even if truck is running. My opinion it should never lock with truck running and key inside truck.
Any suggestions.
It has happened to me also....key in ignition, running, while my wife was sitting inside. I got out to pick up the mail....door closed and locked...Luckily, the window was open...Make sure the keypad is functioning before this happens....locking your wife in the truck is humorous though...stitches come out Tuesday.....Ford can fix this by making it unlock if the door is closed while locked in park, that assumes the truck can sense that the manual lock lever has been engaged.
It happened to me as well luckily, I had FordPass on my phone and on my watch and I was able to unlock the doors with those also upon further review, the driver side door locked, but the back door was still unlocked. Check that with your truck. Not what I’m saying.
I don’t touch any of those buttons.
Key Fob opens door.
Start truck open door manually with handle close it door locks.
Trucks running
Unfortunately the OP "FrankFord" has not responded in this thread or to any of my DM's He had sent me a video that he had taken, but because he was moving it was pretty blurry as to whether he had actually push the manual locking lever when he pushed open the door.It happened to me as well luckily, I had FordPass on my phone and on my watch and I was able to unlock the doors with those also upon further review, the driver side door locked, but the back door was still unlocked. But I do suggest putting FordPass on your phone and onto your smart watch so you can unlock it that way. Also great way to start your truck from in your house when it’s cold outside or very hot outside.
