I carry a couple CAT utility blankets, they work great. They have eyelets so you can use bungee cords to hold them in place. They work up to golf ball size hail, anything bigger will start to show mild dents.

This is the real smart way to do it, plus you get protection from wandering eyes and sticky fingers.I thought of making some sort of hail protection. But I had a Eureka moment and I realized I should just donate/toss some accumulated possessions I would've never used again, and use the garage for what it was originally intended to be used for. Parking a vehicle out of the weather.
Of course that was of no help when I was away from home and got caught in a hail-infested thunderstorm. Amazingly, the dents were sparse and the worst ones were not in the aluminum hood.
That's what I was thinking. If he put those under a tarp or car cover I feel it would be much better protection.I love the idea. Looks like it will help greatly reducing the number of them that get through, still some gaps and possibly get the sides if at an angle, but looks like it will stop a majority of them. and fairly cheap to produce as well! Very nice!
Apparently too much time on your hands. Not a bad idea though.Made a roll-up hail cover using pool noodles and paracord. In central Texas, we get hail regularly in spring, so needed something to cover it, since my garage is full.

We went without a garage for decades until we bought our present house. Most of our working career meant getting the snow/frost off the car to go to work at O Dark Thirty not to mention how quickly a vehicle degrades being outside all the time. How does this not blow of in the wind? Are you attaching to the truck somehow?
The idea was sound the execution was poor.If they were longer it would be way better. And if I ever did this, I can guarantee that the hail would land exactly in-between the tubes, in those gaps! Maybe tighten it up a little?
Yup, same here in the DFW area. Maybe worse here. I think thats a great idea. Did you use these or just dollar tree ones? https://amzn.to/424YBgM great idea!. In central Texas, we get hail regularly
