Hi there

Tonight my Maverick was opened and stolen some stuff
On the video you can see how it was.

Anyone know how he opened my Maverick and how can I prevent this in the future?

P.S. Maverick I bought in the dealer 1 year ago and both keys was in my house.

This is an old trick. Nefarious individuals can scan your key fob's signal when you unlock the doors in a parking lot. All it takes as a pocket sized single board computer, or a notebook and a RFID scanner. They start by looking for a target vehicle, they put a Apple Airtag or similar device on your vehicle in a hard to see spot while you are shopping, that way they know where you park the vehicle. After scanning they clone your key fob. The rest is just as easy as what you see in the video.

For vehicles intelligent/smart key access there are two ways. One is the scanner to clone your key, but what works even better for them is if you keep the keys close enough to your vehicle at night all they have to do is drive up and see if the door unlocks for them.

Yes, the downfall of pushbutton start, they use a device that'll duplicate the keyfob.

Which is why some manufactures allow you to disable the transmission from the key. I used it on my Toyota's with smart keys for years, when disabled you had to push the buttons on the fob to unlock the doors. To be clear it disabled the function on the vehicle temporarily, until the next time you unlocked the vehicle. I don't know if Ford keys have this feature.

I read that when you pull into a parking lot, get out of your vehicle and then lock it with the key fob, criminals can detect and copy the signal from your fob. Not saying that's what happened, but it's possible. You should lock your truck using the door locks instead. Others say they keep their keys in a Faraday bag at home to prevent signal pirating. I'm sorry this happened to you. I frickin hate people who steal. You should be allowed to shoot them. :curse:

They might be in your house, but are they in a Faraday cage or pouch? You need to block the RF signal. I use a small tin can as a signal blocker to put my keys in at the back door. The thieves have a device that they bought from any of several Chinese suppliers including Amazon and Etsy (https://www.amazon.ca/Flipper-FLP-Z-W-R04-Zero/dp/B0BFXKSFNT) that can read and amplify the keyfob signal from as far as 90ft away, and then use the duplicated signal to unlock the vehicle and start it. Usually they just walk up close to your house and send out the vehicle ping and then look for the returned keyfob code. Its so easy with the $300 device that a highschool moron can do it. I'm a bit surprised that they ransacked your truck instead of just taking it.

that is cryptographically impossible, it would take either bypassing the fob or creating one via FRDS or by having 2 fobs paired to the truck already. if they could have started it and drove away, they would have.

getting in, unfortunately, is not that hard.

My Maverick doesn’t have keyless access…

I plan to install alarm system with BLE tag as second authorization.
Without this tag you will not open the doors by fob’s button

it's actually less secure than a maverick with the touch handle because using the fob is longer range.

Look up Flipper Zero, amazing what this little device can do, highly modifiable also.
Flipper Zero can't do this. Hell, I cant get my Flipper to crack/clone my RFID bus pass, and yes.....I have all the "fun" less mainstream apps on my Flipper.
