Did I do this right?

New member from the Upper Midwest here. I've often referred to this forum before for Maverick news and I'm old enough to remember the earlier namesake.
I tried last fall to "reserve" a Maverick online and received an email acknowledgement but something must have happened. No further information or contact from FoMoCo or the dealer I selected so this past fall I was Johnny on the spot with a deposit when another dealer that I had contacted told me the order bank was open. I think that was September 17th. At any rate we ponied up a grand for an XL Hybrid with a hitch and Area 51 paint. When it arrives it'll be replacing a 2000 S10 that I may keep around for winter beater duty, dunno yet.
I'm hoping sooner rather than later but have read enough to think fall of 23' might be more realistic... maybe.

Sounds like you did fine,. did you get an email from Ford back On September 17th or a few days later saying they got your order? Plus a second email a few weeks ago telling you how they are working hard to fulfill your order.

If not maybe the dealer didn't put your email to Ford. They might have put the dealers email in. You could always call Ford and see if they show your order. Not sure of the number but its posted here some where.

The key to getting your Maverick in a (relatively) timely fashion is to choose the right dealer. Since your dealer contacted you about the 23 order banks opening, it seems like you're on the right track.

I thought he said he went into dealer on September 17th placed order with deposit. That sounds right to me.

He corrected the mistake he made waiting in the fall of 2021 by going to second dealer in September 17 of the fall of 2022 and putting deposit down.

I ordered the exact same thing on Oct 1, 2021 and then again this September (XL Hybrid with hitch in Area 51). As for the "sooner rather than later", you unfortunately need to add "never" as an additionial option to that sentence. Since you ordered an XL Hybrid and were not a '22 rollover, your chances of getting one are slim. After being here for well over a year and seeing all the constraint lists, my guess is that only around half of the September ordered '23 Hybrids will be built. Ad in that you ordered an XL (which is contrained to be 15% of all Hybrids), your chance of that order ever being filled is probably less than 30% (or maybe 20% if your dealer had Hybrid roll-overs from 22 model). Even after waiting over a year, I have zero confidence that I will ever get my XL Hybrid. Best of luck to you.
