Just a matter of how high your counter goes is all. You need to go to 7 pulses instead of 5 if you enabled all the drive modes.

So with this mod are you still able to switch to the other modes? Or would you be limited to the mode you have it set for?

Never had a truck or car with modes before. Does the Maverick usually start out in Normal Mode. How do you switch to the other modes on the hybrid? Can you only switch while in park?

Starts in normal. Can switch on the fly while driving.

I thought that could be turned off via the menus on your dash
Nope. I’ve been wearing seatbelts since 1960 and this nanny drives me nuts! Sometimes it comes up twice before I drive away… and the first thing I do when I get in the vehicle is put my belt on.

...please take a look at the video or your owner's manual. I believe the manual is also accessible via the APP. Anyhow, it is the last button on your center console. Yes, you change it as you drive, and depending on your speed and driving style results may vary.

Had a Honda CRZ which I loved. Also had to change it to eco mode from normal every time started it. Not a big deal became second nature. However it did bug me. It should just default to your last used setting. Thanks for posting this.
Added this, now that I have the Mav it is a nuicense. The Honda has separate buttons.

I gave you a like. I do wonder though how many times i could tap the button to cycle from normal to eco mode in the time it would take me to make this modification 😂 but i know lots of people would like to adjust default settings. So good on you for making it possible

Thank you… It has become apparent that this is not for everyone. ECO-MODE is very temperamental to driving style, sea level, temperature, and other factors. It works great for some, and it is utterly insignificant to others. Perhaps if you have driven a Ford for the last decade or so, it is no big deal. But my previous vehicle did not turn off the cruise control, did not turn auto on/off back on, and it did not default the drive mode either. So, as my first Ford in the last two decades, these little things are a little annoying.

Is there any reason Ford couldn't adjust this with a software update that would keep the truck in eco mode by default?

It would be trivial for the PCM (or SOBDMC, BCM, etc) to store the last drive mode. The only reason that seems to make sense not to do so is that the default drive mode must have some bearing on the amount of CARB/EPA cert testing required. An OEM likely has to perform additional testing and/or submit additional documentation to CARB/EPA for an alternate drive mode to be retained across drive cycles.

By making the driver take an action each time to request a non-default mode, the OEM probably saves money in testing/cert time. That seems most plausible to me.

Well, other automakers do the same and perhaps you are right! However, in my quest for 40 MPG @ 75 MPH, I have done quite a bit of driving with the laptop attached to the vehicle to monitor the OBD II port, and AFR and other specs are better in ECO to an extent. In other words, if an ECO score is what you are trying to achieve ECO MODE is the correct mode.

However, if you get on it while on ECO mode the Maverick default back to a MAP very similar to Sports mode. One that gives you more timing, fuel, and boots for about 5-10 minutes.
