Did you have this volt meter plugged in to your other Maverick and if so did it ever indicate a low charge status?
Yes.

In the 2022 I saw voltages below 12 volts a few times.

If the voltage got to near 11.8 volts then the Deep Sleep happened soon afterwards and a message appeared on the App.

This was before I had the TSB-2060 done.

After TSB-2060 was done the battery voltage stayed above 12 volts.

I'm looking at getting one of those. Seems like a good use for that socket. At least you get a warning it seems if things start going south.

I’d like to probe the relationship between relatively high mpg (45+), and the “deep sleep” notification.
If one drives in such a way as to achieve great mileage, then that, by definition, means a lot of battery usage.
On the other hand, if one does a lot of highway driving, it wouldn’t surprise me if there was never a notification.
I’ve been getting 53mpg on total miles driven (almost 17k). Lots of deep sleep notes.
Two months ago I took a 3day, 1000mile round trip. Lots of highway 80+mph miles. DS notes stopped.
Then we flew away for three weeks. Still no DS notes.
Yesterday I drove about 10 miles, back roads,<45mph. No problems.
Woke up this morning to a DS.
So……….
Here’s betting that getting good mileage (no doubt one of Ford’s desires) results in more Deep Sleep notifications.

Something else…………
What is the difference between “Deep sleep” mode
and “Battery saver” mode?
I‘ve had each.
I don’t think that they’re the same.
Anyone know?

So is locking the door via the handle sufficient or does it have to be done by the app or key fob?
I always lock via the key fob. I have the app totally turned off so never did that. My normal testing procedure is to unlock, get in the truck, lock via the key fob, wait for about 1 minute until all the internal lights go out, test voltage under the seat via volt-meter, wait about 2 more minutes until I hear a "click", test again via volt meter, test a 3rd time using a Topdon battery tester, and then a 4th time again with the volt meter. Yeah, while this would seem to be over-excessive for something as "simple" as testing voltage, you will get slightly different readings on every test. I will usually get an extra .04V after the Topdon test which I am currently associating to surface voltage caused by the resistance test of the Topdon (if someone has a better theory, let me know).

I think you are confusing the 12V and the High Voltage battery. The 12V has nothing to do with the mileage (other than the 12V is not charging when you are using the HV battery). Where the 12V does come into play is the start-up and drive sequence. Every time you put in the key, it seems the computer kicks off 10 minutes of "stuff" where it runs a bunch of diagnostics, tries to connect to bluetooth and wi-fi, etc. Even after you finish a drive, the truck seems to stay in an "active mode" for maybe 20-30 minutes if you don't lock your doors and 3-4 minutes if you do lock the doors. On your 10 minute drive, you had energy draw on the 12V battery for 20 minutes but the gas engine did not run long enough to really charge the 12V battery. If during your 10 mile drive you were only charging for maybe 8-10 minutes, it just was not enough to off-set the drain (basically, you potentially charged up by .10V but used .15V during this time). It would be interesting to know if the 12V gets charged (at more than .1 amps) when doing braking re-gen or only when the ICE engine is running.

My understanding is that the HV battery is what charges the 12 volt battery not the ICE. There is a converter but no alternator.

Model year 2022 and 2023 Hybrid owners have you had any issues with deep sleep/ dead battery or even messages in Ford Pass indicating an issue? Vote yes or no according to your model year.

I would just like to get a feel from the MTC community on how big an issue this really is.
My 2022 XL hybrid set deep sleep modes several times a month. My 2023 XLT hybrid has had zero notifications (knock on wood)🪵

Anything unusual in your usage? Maybe time for a new battery?
Nope. Nothin' new. At least 2 half hour trips (at least) every other day. At least 2 two hour trips every week. Sometimes I get to coast/charge before parking; other times power/drain before parking. Never mattered before.

Today, everything seemed normal. At this point, being a one-off, I'll just blame your poll. :) If it happens again, out comes the volt meter.

It is somewhat hard to believe that the 12v battery would really need replacement at the one year mark. I could easily believe 12v replacement to be a sloppy technician's quick fix rather than a true diagnosis based on understanding and logic. In design, one would look to lower production costs; but always with an eye to potential warranty expense. I don't (want to) believe that the lowest cost, shortest lifetime, poorest reliability component would be designed in to save a few production dollars at the cost of many more warranty dollars. It is easier to contemplate a rather complex set of scenarios where charging is not happening (sufficiently) or some threshold voltage is inappropriately being applied. I can't say I've heard a lot on this forum suggesting a battery replacement being a cure rather than just an activity.

So far, I 'm not really believing the '23s will end up much better than the '22's given time and mileage. I wonder if Ford has made any real progress in fixing this problem from one year to the next.

I think the cable issue has been addressed but not the parasitic draw issue. The poll is definitely showing fewer problems with MY 23. Time will tell if that holds up.

I’m not confusing the two different batteries, nor their raison d’etre.
I’m just asking if there is a DIRECT connection between high MPG’s and lapsing into either Deep sleep, or Battery saver mode.
I’m betting that those who regularly drive predominantly highway speeds, averaging 30-35 mpg or so, get very few, IF ANY, DS or BS notifications.
What say y’all?

From eBay.

Here is a link to one like it in RED only:

Car Truck Cigarette Lighter Style Digital Thermometer Voltmeter Voltage Meter

The one I bought had options to have the display in RED and BLUE like the one I got.

Searching eBay may turn up the one I bought.

12.4 Volts Overnight First measurement in the morning.JPG
I did something like this in my previous Tacoma, but I used this:

https://www.amazon.com/Upgraded-Cha...rette+lighter+style+voltmeter,aps,166&sr=8-16

So I just replaced the 12 "cig lighter" portion all together.
