I’m not confusing the two different batteries, nor their raison d’etre.
I’m just asking if there is a DIRECT connection between high MPG’s and lapsing into either Deep sleep, or Battery saver mode.
I’m betting that those who regularly drive predominantly highway speeds, averaging 30-35 mpg or so, get very few, IF ANY, DS or BS notifications.
What say y’all?
Yeah I don’t think so. The high voltage battery charges the low voltage battery not the ICE. The more you drive with less time idle should equal better charging of the 12volt. My theory is a combo of infrequent usage and trucks with lots of accessories such as heated seats for example are going to be more likely to have issues.

Yes.

In the 2022 I saw voltages below 12 volts a few times.

If the voltage got to near 11.8 volts then the Deep Sleep happened soon afterwards and a message appeared on the App.

This was before I had the TSB-2060 done.

After TSB-2060 was done the battery voltage stayed above 12 volts.
It appears the Maverick kills that outlet after a bit because the readout on the volt meter is no longer illuminated.

I get it very frequently. I even got a notice before I drove it off the lot the first time. It’s generally every week. If I do maintain charge, it will be good for two weeks. I drive 95% city.

I consider my 12v battery marginal.

It's at 12.2 to 12.3 volts after resting overnight.

I've had my 2023 XLT hybrid since April 14th 2023. So far I have experienced 2 deep sleep events:

The first on was in the middle of August when I didn't drive it for a week because I had covid. It was completely dead. No real surprise there.

The second was about a month ago. I had drove home from work the night before and it was completely dead the next morning, less than 12 hours later. No idea why it happened.

I did the BMS reset procedure after I charged the battery back up by driving it. Hopefully it won't happen again.

I roll the windows down and open the sunroof and listen to the stereo. I never use the air or any heating feature. I don’t even plug my phone in. I usually drive less then 10 mile intervals.

My 12v battery worries me enough, on long trips I carry a second battery.

I drive 10 miles to and from work each day five days a week. That’s mostly 45mph and up driving. Like you I don’t use much for accessories. I’ve Never had one message so far. Granted I only 1200 miles on my truck.

I carry a jump box but on a long long trip yeah a second battery might not be a bad idea.

And just like that.... I got my first message.

"The period of time it sat" to trigger this:

19 Hours.

Number of times I opened car doors, unlocked doors, used the radio: 0

I’d like to probe the relationship between relatively high mpg (45+), and the “deep sleep” notification.
If one drives in such a way as to achieve great mileage, then that, by definition, means a lot of battery usage.
On the other hand, if one does a lot of highway driving, it wouldn’t surprise me if there was never a notification.
I’ve been getting 53mpg on total miles driven (almost 17k). Lots of deep sleep notes.
Two months ago I took a 3day, 1000mile round trip. Lots of highway 80+mph miles. DS notes stopped.
Then we flew away for three weeks. Still no DS notes.
Yesterday I drove about 10 miles, back roads,<45mph. No problems.
Woke up this morning to a DS.
So……….
Here’s betting that getting good mileage (no doubt one of Ford’s desires) results in more Deep Sleep notifications.
No no no. A thousand times no.
Not related to MPG.

Now, short trips of any kind, lead to low 12v battery.

I monitor volts AND amps.

What happens is, the voltage goes up very fast in these batteries. When the voltage goes up, the computer software views it as healthy and fully charged AND STOPS CHARGING THE 12 v Battery.... in as few as 5 minutes the 12v amps go to zero or near zero.

Whereas a minute later I can attach a wall plug charger and the battery will suck 5 to 10 amps for an hour.

I really, truly feel this is a bad battery issue. As in poorly made, poor internal components, maybe poor acid or poor lead. And also the SOFTWARE is doing it no favors. The charging is too weak / meek / too "gentle".

Remember 15-20 years ago there was no computer software involved? The alternator made x volts and the battery would take whatever it wanted, for as long as it needed, right? Looks like software can now "turn off" charging.

Observation: battery terminals 11.8v before the key is turned; and 15.0v just after the key is turned. Not normal. Not healthy. It's like maybe one cell is bad???

MY 22, 19 months, 23,000 miles.

1 Deep Sleep after not starting it for 2 weeks
1 Remote Features Disabled after using heated seats and steering wheel on a short trip.

Both cleared after running the truck for a few minutes, so it seems to have functioned as designed, so I don't necessarily consider these occurrences to be "issues" but nevertheless voted "Yes" since the notifications did appear.

That does sound like it operated as intended and I can see the first cause as being warranted but just because you run your heated seats and steering wheel on a short trip? That’s annoying and an issue especially if it is frequent. Doesn’t sound like it is for you though.

Same as RDRahn states. Mine may sit for 3-4 days without driving it, and my trips are short, hardly ever over 10 miles. Have to use the 'unlock' button on the remote to open the doors, especially the passenger side, more so than the driver side. Also, say I'm waiting for my wife doctor's appointment to finish as I'm sitting in my truck in the parking lot, there are all kinds of noises, popping sounds and such in the roof and other places. Kind of hard to explain.
