My 2 cents....I was the Factory rep for Honda 15+ years and now I teach Automotive Technology at our local Community College. Wiper blades were considered a wear item and not covered by warranty. What you are describing is what we called wiper chattering. As mentioned before in several posts, cleaning the windshield with a non-abrasive cleaner should fix your issue.

Also, I add 4-oz of ammonia to my windshield homemade washer fluid when it needs filling which helps reduce film on the glass and remove bugs. Too much ammonia will eat away at the rubber parts of the of the windshield so it little goes along way.

Note: I have used this recipe for 25 years with no issues-blades or washer system. (total recipe: 1 gallon distilled water, 3-4 drops of dawn and 4 oz of ammonia. I also add 4 oz isopropyl alcohol in the winter to prevent the fluid from freezing on the glass)

thank you for response.
Not sure what "chattering" means, other then a sound made from tapping teeth up and down.

No that is not the sound. It's more of the look of the wiper blade movement.
It's not staying on the window surface. It bounces up and down as it moves.

Yes I have washed it twice now. but will give the window and blades another cleaning.

Yes I wlll not contact another dealer if not remedying by me soon
"Chattering" = hopping up and down. 🤗. I use the extra strength rainx in the hope of a less "sticky" surface on glass which hopefully lowers rubber sticking to glass and wearing faster. Reducing streaking, hopefully. Had friend in California who only installed wiper inserts for annual inspections because they wouldn't pass the next year if left on car. Said it never rained, go figure.

@scotty I hope I am not too late to the forum in which I just wanted to give my $0.02 if you do replace the wiper blade. Please watch youtube videos or there may be some posts on here showing how to correctly get the wiper arms up to replace the blades without chipping/damaging the hood.
I just randomly found a YT video quick to post on here (currently at work and dont have a bunch of free time). May not be the best instructions, but just wanted to make sure you dont end up chipping the paint as its not as simple as other vehicles may be.
Dustin,
You’re well-spoken, know your stuff, and you really seem to care.
It is appreciated.

I'd go to a parts store, buy new wiper blades (some stores will install them for you). If that solves the problem great. If not take to the dealer to have things checked out.

I've noticed wiper blade on our Toyota chatter/squeak within a short time after being replaced. I think it's the quality of rubber in the blades and air pollution causing the deterioration.

I appreciate the comment. I have seen a post or 2 on here of someone attempting to change the blade and pulled the arm straight back and chipped the hood, or taking it to a mom/pop shop where they didnt know how to do it either and chipped the paint. So I just wanted to reach out quick to say to OP and/or everyone else scrolling through that if they did not know how, its got a trick that needs to be done first. A little annoying but easy to do. :)

@scotty you could go to the dealer and show them your issue. If they say you need new blades, go ahead and have them replace them. Once they do that and the problem is still there, it then becomes a WARRANTY issue and it is on them to fix. You may be out of pocket for the blades, but at least your issue is resolved.
You will also have a paper trail for down the road wiper issues.

just put the rain x on it as I did yesterday also after washing the window 3 different times and drying it after each time. All cleaned the blades.

The dealer after calling him and explaining, (and even ford called on my behalf), should have said "come on out and will look at the rubber and arm". They would see a great looking rubber

Thanks so much for your "recipe". Wow ... a lot less expensive than Rain-X! Thanks, again!

Thank you all for your ideas and understanding.

Going to call another dealer to have bouncing wipers looked at.

That Dealer is coming Friday to my place to do recall on rear blinkers.

Hopefully he will consent, if he indeed is allowed to do so by the Dealer, take a look at the condition with vibrataing wipers and see good condition of them. He if he has the power could say "yes come to the dealer and will diagnose and repair under warranty. I have some optimisim.

Final solution go buy motor craft wipers $40 for the two. Give the dealer the receipt bourght from his parts department. If bouncing wipers still occur: Should they then be responsible for the fix?

Maybe its the wiper motor, maybe the window glass, the arm itself.

Shouldn't they then be responsible to find the cure under warranty conditions labor and parts(2400 miles, 6 mths of ownership) after the wiper change if bouncing still occurs?

That is my plan. I just added a post. Thanks for the encouragement.
I will buy the factory blades, at the dealer. Put them on my self $40 for the two. If they put them on I expect them to say $50 charge.

23 ford maverick, live in s. Florida, 2400 miles on truck. Had truck 6 mts.
Rubber on windshield wipers is soft, pliable, nor discolored, or any rubber deterioration.

Only drove in the rain once since having the truck. It rained about a week ago and thats when the vibration of wipers began.

When wipers are turned on without water on window there is no vibration (I did this for a quick test).

After running wipers with water on the windows the vibration of the wiper blade rubber begins to vibrating up and down and losing contact with window surface.

I called Ford auto nation, margate, fl. Told them my experience and asked for help. He said wipers in South Florida are only good for 6 mths. Where did that data come from?

Dealer said if you bring it in, then I would be charged for evaluation even though it could be something other then wiper material.

So, did someone reading this have this experience? What manufacturer and model of wiper specifically did you buy that solved issue I am having? Did wiper last more then 6 mths.? Thank you reading this.

I never had this issue with cars i have been driving. I am now 70 years old.

I
I used to get a new car when warranty is up and I don't every remember changing my wipers, only driving 55 years maybe I will finally get to change my wipers blades, am retired now and keeping my maverick for a while or till it gives me trouble.

As another person wrote, do NOT use Comet, Ajax, Bon Ami, Bartender's or any abrasive powder on the glass.

When you finally do figure out the problem, be sure and post back so we all can benefit from your problem.

I've been buying windshield wipers for years from Aero Wiper Blades (https://aerowiper.com/). Their wipers are better than any wiper I've purchased anywhere and at a bargain price. I've referred several people to this company and they all love Aero Wiper Blades.
