Good post! Some forum members have put felt on the bottom of the wiper arm just in case it rubs on the hood at any time. Accidents happen.@scotty I hope I am not too late to the forum in which I just wanted to give my $0.02 if you do replace the wiper blade. Please watch youtube videos or there may be some posts on here showing how to correctly get the wiper arms up to replace the blades without chipping/damaging the hood.
I just randomly found a YT video quick to post on here (currently at work and dont have a bunch of free time). May not be the best instructions, but just wanted to make sure you dont end up chipping the paint as its not as simple as other vehicles may be.
Products are made cheaper now and they want you to buy new ones. The weather has an impact on how long your wiper blades last. If you keep your vehicle parked in your garage or out of direct sunlight they will last longer. If you buy better quality replacements they should last longer than the cheapest ones.23 ford maverick, live in s. Florida, 2400 miles on truck. Had truck 6 mts.
Rubber on windshield wipers is soft, pliable, nor discolored, or any rubber deterioration.
Only drove in the rain once since having the truck. It rained about a week ago and thats when the vibration of wipers began.
When wipers are turned on without water on window there is no vibration (I did this for a quick test).
After running wipers with water on the windows the vibration of the wiper blade rubber begins to vibrating up and down and losing contact with window surface.
I called Ford auto nation, margate, fl. Told them my experience and asked for help. He said wipers in South Florida are only good for 6 mths. Where did that data come from?
Dealer said if you bring it in, then I would be charged for evaluation even though it could be something other then wiper material.
So, did someone reading this have this experience? What manufacturer and model of wiper specifically did you buy that solved issue I am having? Did wiper last more then 6 mths.? Thank you reading this.
I never had this issue with cars i have been driving. I am now 70 years old.

By vibrating, do you mean chattering across the glass? As someone else pointed out, try cleaning the windshield a couple of times. Rubbing alcohol does a good job but don't get it on the paint.23 ford maverick, live in s. Florida, 2400 miles on truck. Had truck 6 mts.

No, I haven't had your exact problem. My factory blades lasted 18 months. They were streaking badly, that's why I replaced them.Thank you response. But did you have the same problem I described and how did you solve it if you did have same problem? My other two cars sitting right beside maverick has wipers lasting 3 years so far and their perfect. My maverick has perfect soft, pliable wipers.
If I go buy new blades and the same problem exists, then what direction would you take.
I don't believe anyone is expected to buy new blades every 6 months. How long has your factory blades lasted?
My hybrid has 28k miles in 27 months. Original factory wipers. Am on my 5th or 6th gallon of wiper fluid (maybe more if dealer tops it off during "the works oil changes?"). I wash dust off most times before and when a bug splatter happens before it drys during driving. (I use best grade of rainx,), Never notice wiper "chatter". Next "the works" oil change I will ask for new wiper blades as current ones are now slightly "streaking". Current problem is deciding which coupon to use with dealer tire purchase, the $70 cash discount or additional bonus Ford pass points OR the free alignment with tire purchase. (Cannot stack the coupons, dang)Good wipers will last a year under normal usage. In South Florida, the salty air might be drying out the rubber more quickly.
I personally clean the windshield before pulling out of the driveway each time. Could be that regular spray of cleaner is enough to keep the blades from dry rotting as quickly.

Also clean the edge of the wiper blade that contacts the glass. I know that due to the design you can't flip the wiper arms up as on most other vehicles so don't force anything.
If none of that works, my guess is maybe the spring in the arm is weak or not right and maybe the entire arm should be replaced? Ask the dealer to try that. Also try another dealer.
Usually get email of "specials". But some are available online including a 10% for scheduling appointment online instead of calling on phone. (Suspect I could get the discount if called in and said "am having trouble with doing online"). I remember getting email for wiper inserts for super price but don't remember what it was. It never hurts to ask.Do you get the cupon from the dealer when looking on line
