Not a touchless but one we've used for years. Likely a rock stuck in the roller as you can still feel the glass shards where it hit. Hot water did the rest.

Same thing happpened to me years ago on an old Chevy. They pointed to the sign and said sorry not responsible. It was the blower that had a wheel on it. It rolled up the windscreen and then cracked it midway to the top.

Went to a junk yard and had the guy put a used one on for $50

Glass deductible is too high to bother. A conversation I need to have with my Agent.
I have State Farm. my agent highly suggested I add the additional coverage for a zero deductible on the windshield. The increase was like $6 a month. I’ve had to replace two windshields, one on my Bronco Sport and one on my Maverick. the additional glass rider was well worth the money.

This is my first broken windshield in over 30 years of driving. Part of the reason why I'm not completely torn up about it. Even at $6 a month, I'm still ahead even paying out of pocket.

That said, I plan to talk to my agent. The Expedition windshield would likely be a lot more expensive.

I run mine thru the carwash probably twice a week (unlimited monthly subscription plan), and while I've watched the hood deform a LOT, never had a concern about the windshield. No insurance coverage?

HRG
X2, on the unlimited monthly car washes and no problems!!

Do that. I went from a $200 deductible to $0 for like $12-$15 every 6 months.

HRG
And be sure to MAKE SURE there will be no increase in premium despite them saying to the contrary. Mine with Plymouth Rock did that. As a result, I fired both the agent and insurance company!

We have a local 4 bay touchless "laser wash" place (pull in, stop, machine goes around car while you are in park) up the street from us that has been there for many years....about 4-5 years ago, a Hoffman's "tunnel type" wash opened about a block up from them...then a Tidal Wave "tunnel type" wash just opened a few months back about 2 blocks before them all on the same street....the advantage is, since the better half hates the tunnel types (cannot seem to get lined up on the track...ever) with the two new wash places open, getting in and out of the laser wash has never been easier and the bonus is, now the laser wash joint also offers free vacuums, used to clip you 0.25 cents for 5-7 minutes of suck!

In talking with my wife, seems the carwash place did take a claim. Said they would email or call for next steps. Given that the crack is in view of the lane centering camera, the entire thing will have to be replaced. Safelite quoted me roughly $1,000 for the job.
If you have an early 2023 Lariat with the Lux package, you may have the heated wipers windshield on your truck. Look for the symbol of the heated wiper lower corner of windshield drivers side by Ford trademark. Later trucks didn't come with that option.

Wife took the truck to the carwash. They cracked my windshield and said it was our problem.

🤓 🤔 I’ve been using car washes all my driving life, never had that happen.

The Mavericks have an aluminum hood -- light but flexible.

Windshield glass is a bit thinner these days: less weight = more MPG, they say.
Saves you money, they say.

Steve
Yes, I hear that to increase MPGs they used thinner glass on the Ocean gate submersible

Agreed.
I'm not saying it can't happen. Some people have found mice in cans of food.😱 Just because I never have, doesn't mean it hasn't happened.
Living in the Upper Midwest back in the 70s-90's when you got a free car wash, if you bought 10-12 gallons of gas.
I got my car's washed every week summer and winter down to 35°. Never ever have I had a windshield crack. Doors freeze shut yes, windshield crack no, but I've never owned a vehicle with such a thin windshield as the Maverick may have.🤷‍♂️
My questions are. Did they shut down the car wash until the problem was solved?
Did any other cars in the wash end up with cracked windshields?

Be thankful you weren't behind this guy,,,,,,

HRG
I wondered if anyone had posted that. Glad I looked first.
I would love to know the total damages to the wash and car behind.
