I am on my THIRD acoustic windshield for my 2022 Maverick Lariat! (Original plus two new ones). It is definitely a weak windshield and I think a real problem for Ford. First chip which became a crack was a rock driving in Colorado on the freeway, center of windshield. Safelite looked at it and it was not a reparable chip (before it became a crack). I forget why. Had it replaced back home in N. California at the shop that my Ford dealer uses.

Second crack was a little spot in the bottom passenger side. Did not have it repaired before I had a service done at my Ford dealer. When I picked up my truck, there was a small smashed edge along the top of the windshield (chipped paint) and two massive foot-long parallel cracks coming from it. Totally unrelated to and nowhere near the little spot crack. The service guy I picked up the truck from called me at the end of the day to say the truck was ready so I picked it up at closing time. He never even mentioned the crack. I didn't notice it until I got in to drive home. Luckily service guy was still there and we had it out. But I had to drive home so did not leave the truck.

Ford dealer tried to say they had nothing to do with the massive windshield damage, which occurred while the truck was with them for service! It looks like someone took a hammer to the upper seam where the truck and windshield meet, or that something heavy fell on it or hit it, then the resulting long cracks. It was so bad I had to report them to Ford corporate, had to involve Ford Executive Services. Wish I never had to go back to that dealership but I bought their pre-paid Car Doc service they sell. I figured with inflation it was better to buy it upfront. Nightmare. My truck was in the shop for at least a week.

My son had tried to help me get the dealer to take responsibility and replace the windshield by posting a bad review. When we confronted them together, the service dealer literally blackmailed me and said to take the bad review down (I did not even know about the review at the time) or he would not proceed. So my son took it down. I think the next day I got a call that they had a change of heart and would replace the windshield, using a nearby glass shop with the Ford windshield. The whole experience was appalling. And the service manager is a pastor!!!!!! Total slimeballs at that dealership, especially the sales manager I ordered the truck from. But that's another story. It's unfortunate, because there are also a few great people there too.

If the dealer is seriously that bad, consider adding them to this list of the good, the bad, and the ugly dealers out there.

Just because the cracks appeared when you were parked, doesn't mean the cause of the cracks didn't happen while you were driving. One of my older cars windows didn't start cracking until a month after a rock hit it, the break was too small for me to see, but it spread just the same. The glass people figured it out right away once they looked at it.
sad to say mine have 3 cracks and several chips, worse than my jeep wrangler I had a few years ago learned not to change them until they spider every where, my 2023 maverick is the worse i've seen of a window chipping everytime something hits it, funny i got a bird last week and bam another chip

When I was living in Colorado in the 90’s, was behind a dump truck and a rock fell off, took a couple good bounces on the road and then smacked the crap out of my windshield. There was one of those “Hows my driving?” stickers on the back and I called them to report the damage. They asked me “did it fall off the truck and bounce on the road first or hit your car first”?

I was honest and said it hit the road first, their response was “once it hits the ground, we aren’t responsible anymore”.

I guess the moral of my story is- from now on the rock flew off the truck and flew right into the windshield, it never touched the ground.
Ahhh, then you would have got the "You were within 200 feet of the truck and we are not responsible response!!!😁".

We bought a Mazda CX30 brand new in 2021. With in the first week (under 300 miles) a rock hit the windshield and it cracked all the way across. I personally think windshields are still green and need to age a bit to cure but betting that is probably not a technically sound theory. Anyway I found out that windshield cost $1800.00. I was not even sure if I had glass coverage on my insurance but luckily I did. I had the dealer do the job even though they subbed it out to a glass company and a good thing because you know I had to take that car back 3 times over a year span because water was getting in the car on hard rains. The dealer finally gave up and gave me a super sweet deal on a 2022. I basically paid about 25 cents a mile to own the first one (it had 20k miles) I am guessing the Maverick windshield is not cheap either because it looks like the radar is in the windshield like the Mazda.

My last couple of Safelite windshields have been pretty bad with distortions. One was so bad, they immediately replaced it. From sitting in the lobby and listening to them conduct business, certain brands/models require OEM windshields are used vs aftermarket. I suspect any Mav with Copilot 360 requires an OEM windshield.
