That is the advise I am taking... Their responsibility let them fix it.. or more than likely they will clear the code and say nothing's wrong go on about your way 🙄
Nothing to see here. Move along.

Decided to take a last minute trip a few hundred miles down the road and didn't even get to our destination before the engine light came on. Only have 860 mi and 2 months with the vehicle. I know I'll get bashed for saying this but...t's my first domestic vehicle will probably be my last. If I can't even make it to 1000 mi before issues arise, it doesn't leave me with much confidence that it'll last long term. It's a shame cuz we've really enjoyed the vehicle up until this point
That sucks. However, these days the only thing domestic about your Maverick is corporate headquarters. It's not any different for other manufactures. Last I knew the USA built the best vehicle around. However, not sure you can call an Accord domestic.

Keep it coming... I'm a big boy I can handle it. Have owned too many vehicles, all foreign and NEVER had one fail on a trip or need service this early. Hey the up side is they WILL fix it and then they can buy it from me or I'll sell on the open market.
Not sure about that response. Back in the late 70s I often drove NY to FL and back in Triumphs without a problem. I doubt you'll find very many people that will argue late 70s Triumphs were reliable. Still, I fully understand your dismay on an issue so soon, even if it turns out to be a minor fluke.

Apparently asking for a new Ford vehicle to not behave like a 10+ years old car is being a drama queen here. I think we are all being chumps here and ford is laughing at us to wait in a line to get a vehicle with this quality. Yesterday, I saw a video on YouTube about a Toyota Tacoma that had 1.6 million miles on it. Granted, it had an engine replacement at 800K miles, but still super impressive. That is like 16 Mavericks life spans right there.
I've known multiple people who've had severe reliability issues on brand new Tacomas less than a month into ownership. There are also countless Ford hybrid vehicles out there with this exact hybrid system that have lasted hundreds of thousands of miles, and well over a decade without any issues. It's a solid powertrain.

It doesn't matter how reliable something is, statistical outliers, lemons in this case, will always exist, with literally any car, and any brand. New Tundras that cost 90k are having their engines replaced with like 5k on them. The Tacoma has a worse quality ranking than the ranger and maverick.

It's unfortunate that it happens, in a perfect world, no-one would ever have issues with anything. But bad things happen. That's life, it's unfair chaos. I'm sorry that the OP and a handful of other forum members have had severe issues, I feel for you, and I'm sorry this is happening. I hope your mavericks can be repaired under warranty and don't have any more issues moving forward.

That's a very strange trend I've noticed with basically brand these days. There seems to be a lot of those stories where someone experiences a freak issue with a new car, they get it fixed, and then it's flawless for 15 years. Not sure if others have noticed that as well.

Too sad. It appears these trucks are not quality vehicles.
That's a bit of a stretch considering most people have had a flawless experience and we're just experiencing a saturation of bad stories because that's what forums do, for everything. The maverick has a better reliability rating than the Tacoma, and is already on lists of most reliable hybrids you can buy today. We know for a fact that generally speaking, the 2.5 hybrid powertrain is extremely reliable. But bad things happen to every car brand, these stories exist for everything. My dad's honda lasted a day before the engine blew, my friends Honda didn't even make it home from the dealership. My other friends Honda is having everything fail on it. But that doesn't mean all Hondas are trash.

Forums tend to skew negative, we know this. Making broad assumptions based off forums is like making broad assumptions about marriage after talking to a divorce lawyer.

I Also, some time back, (hybrid?) read that in the event of too high radiator fluid temp, possibly if fluid level was too low or (?) that the ice could run on two cylinder limp mode in order to reduce heat. Have not been able to refind where I read it.
that would sort of make sense but yeah I can't find that reference either

FOUND IT: 2022 Online PDF.
Fail-Safe Cooling
Fail-safe cooling allows you to temporarily
drive your vehicle before any incremental
component damage occurs. The fail-safe
distance depends on ambient
temperature, vehicle load and terrain.
How Fail-Safe Cooling Works
If the engine begins to overheat,
the coolant temperature gauge
moves toward the red zone:
A warning lamp illuminates and
a message may appear in the
information display.
If the engine reaches a preset
over-temperature condition, the engine
automatically switches to alternating
cylinder operation. Each disabled cylinder
acts as an air pump and cools the engine.

Rrr if it is an air leak, did you look to see if anything was loose or hose disconnected? Just saying

It could be something very simple. But drama queens LOVE to have their hair on fire for nothing.
Simple or not. OP has less than 1k miles on his truck. It is a complete waste of time for them to be dealing with this problem.
Maybe you have the time to be dealing with doing simple fixes on brand new cars but many people have better things to do with their free time.

I miss the days of the simple engine technology where any home mechanic could diagnose and repair most engine issues. In today's EPA world of reduced emissions and engine complexity it takes computer diagnostic equipment and a computer auto technician to figure out what is going on. Were now in a world where gasoline is contaminated with ethanol and diesel fuel is now low sulfur plus DEF and electric cars are where were headed despite the environmental damage. I spent 10K on engine upgrades on my 2004 Ford PSD Excursion just to get the power back from the switch in fuel. Bring on the check engine light where it can mean a thousand different things....:)

So update on my Hybrid. Got an appointment at a dealer on Tuesday while out of town. They found nothing but Ford will not allow the code to be cleared as something IS wrong with the vehicle, but what? So... Still no fix, light still on.

Hey! I can take a closer look into your engine light concerns if you'd like. Can you send us a PM with your VIN and the dealership name/location? To send a private message, just click on our username and select "Start Conversation".

Hell, I didn't even get to 600 miles, after waiting 327 days. I'm beginning to think the Mav was a bad idea .
