10 Gauge steel and grade 12.9 bolts and the dick heads will go through a basket load of sawzall blades before they even get to the converter. If they get there at all before giving up. :crackup:
If I ever saw some legs sticking out from under my truck...................

Yep! A nice added bonus but not really a problem in my area

Oh yeah I agree with you that it's not a rock crawler but that's not what I want. I want to get off the beaten path and explore some. If I wanted to do some super crazy Rock claws and whatnot I would buy a beater truck from 2000s
I just got installed a Rival skid plate under the engine for exactly the same reason that you mentioned. I am tempted by the skid plate under the cat but this is getting expensive even if less expensive that a new engine or cat.

I just got installed a Rival skid plate under the engine for exactly the same reason that you mentioned. I am tempted by the skid plate under the cat but this is getting expensive even if less expensive that a new engine or cat.
Yeah gets expensive very quick. We as cost savings. A new cat's going to cost a lot of money if I mess it up in the outdoors, I can make sure that that doesn't become a problem later on

They actually sell a skid plate for it that is compatible with the hybrids but it's out of stock.
They've been out of stock for months and months. I'm thinking of using their photos and cut my own out of disgust.

Great Idea and looks very solid. My only concern is trapped heat when we have 95 °F outside, and stuck in traffic.

Isn't the catalytic converter in the Hybrid right next to the exhaust manifold, tucked inside the engine bay? Not saying the extra protection under the truck isn't worth it.

Thank you, great info. To me this means that with the peak heat at the engine side, a skid plate on the cold down stream converter would be safe, no worry about trapped heat.

If I’m not mistaken, the Mavericks with the GPF have a nifty metal cover that is over the GPF & secondary cat. Think there is a pic somewhere on the forum from a new owner…
