If they use much salt on the roads where you are then it might be worthwhile to consider painting that aluminum with a really tough paint to protect it.
Salt does a number on aluminum. It doesn't take that long either.

Most areas I drive are moving to sand to protect our aquifers as there has been extensive studies put into source water protection and is now part of many jurisdictions' Official Plan

Installed mine on my hybrid today and planned ahead. I also added a Fumoto easy drain plug. Used the parts in pics. So next oil change. I ll just remove access panel slip on a piece of 3/8 hose and drain oil straight into the 5 and 1 quart jugs I m saving from todays change. I had read on another article on here. I did also reinstall the factory black screws across the front and 2 in the back just to give it a neater look and ended up loosened the 4 bolts to shift the skid plate to the front slightly to close the gap left a little better.

a guy had quit a mess because the oil overshoots access panel and he had to take it back off to clean it up.

That opening looks to be in totally wrong spot.
It is setup for the AWD Ecoboost turbo engine, as you can't get AWD with the hybrid. But people with the 2wd still want a skid plate so there have been more posts about this then I thought there would be. I am guessing with the AWD hybrid coming next year there will be a new skid plate for hybrids coming too.

If Ford sold an FX2 option I bet it would sell well. Even with 2wd skid plates and tow hooks are good to have.

That's certainly fair!

The last winter that I had my escape for there was a pretty bad storm on my way home, there was a big chunk of ice or shit off of someone's wheel well and it tore the entire felt off and nearly pushed up into the engine... that won't happen with 1/4" aluminum under there
That’s similar what happened to me one day I have a aluminum skid plate for my Volvo S60 there was a shovel in the road that I couldn’t avoid thanks to the plate there was no damage
