Other than making oil changes much easier are there any other advantages to replacing the stock skid plate for this one? The reason I am asking is I no longer do my own oil changes as laying on my back in my driveway days are behind me. :ROFLMAO:

I suppose, it is easier for somebody to check whether the oil change place put 8 screws back versus 15.
And it provides great protection against "Road alligators" shredded truck tires and other road debris that you may not have time to avoid or it is too dangerous to avoid at freeway speeds.
It gives a LOT more drivetrain protection, if you happen to end up on some unpaved, uneven rock/gravel or dirt roads. Maybe the kind of road/trail a person having fun with their truck might end up on.
The OEM fiberboard may protect once.
Just a thought.
Stay safe out there.

Pickup spare screws for the port covers for when they lose them. Maybe ask RIVAL for some spare covers too while you're at it.

I still perform my own oil changes and most maintenance. But, my 29 year old son has a difficult time believing me when I say "laying on concrete hurts these days". ;)

Here are some photos from another thread of the Rival skid plate installed on a Maverick, with the access panels off. Looks like there's plenty of room for servicing.

except for the size it looks just like the OEM door under my old Raptor.
broken record time, take steps to avoid corrosion on those door fasteners

I'm too lazy to repost all of the pictures of my install so I'll just link to my post:

My install post

I have access to a lift and used a tall screw jack to hold the skid plate in place while I installed the front bolts.

I noticed JCR Off-road now offers an engine, cat, gas and floor skid. I'm not familiar with there products but they look good. Rival only has the engine skid so I might order some of jcr's other skids.
JCR is a great company. They are HUGE in the Jeep world which is how I know about their products. I recommend them without hesitation.

He has an FX4, so I believe he was referring to comparison to the OEM skid plate, not fiberboard cover.

Do you by chance, have a picture of the type of scoop the OEM cover has?
Here's a picture of the scoop on the OEM skid plate as was being discussed, not cover: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...te-ford-maverick-non-tremor.47074/post-825473

I was disappointed in the JCR engine skid back when you did your install. I commented then it was clearly a Tremor part. I was wrong, it is a AWD (non Tremor) part but poorly designed for sure, horrible.

Rival is a clear winner for the AWD Mav but I'm still undecided on the Tremor

I was put off by the JCR nut plates and drilling needed to install on the Tremor, but do like it uses 4 additional bolts at the mid section instead of 2 plastic vibration buttons. It does look much better on the Tremor and Badlands. Still undecided.

I have the BSSD-GN-20 bent cover plate version ( New hasn't been installed) If you're interested.
