Having an FX/4 I do have the "upgraded" metal or steel skid plate. Not sure, to be honest if it is steel or aluminum. However, of course, it does not have the access ports for oil changes. I only have my vehicles serviced at a shop been going to for about 10 years now. They are top notch and replace all the screws they remove be it skid plate screws or plastic fasteners removed during the rust proofing procedures. Never see me at a quick lube type place. I do not see such places being a hot bed of professionalism and or know how.I suppose, it is easier for somebody to check whether the oil change place put 8 screws back versus 15.
And it provides great protection against "Road alligators" shredded truck tires and other road debris that you may not have time to avoid or it is too dangerous to avoid at freeway speeds.
It gives a LOT more drivetrain protection, if you happen to end up on some unpaved, uneven rock/gravel or dirt roads. Maybe the kind of road/trail a person having fun with their truck might end up on.
The OEM fiberboard may protect once.
Just a thought.
Stay safe out there.
Will that fit a 2023 Maverick Lariat w 2.0 EB without drilling or any kind of modifications? ThxLooks like they just came back in stock in the last few hours.
I think so, its advertised as no drill and working with the 2.0 EB. I dont see any exception for the Lariat, just a note that it wont fit Tremor (different product available for Tremor) and a note for Fx4 about which bolts to use. For my 2022 XLT there was no drilling needed. You should confirm with them though to be certain. Will that fit a 2023 Maverick Lariat w 2.0 EB without drilling or any kind of modifications? Thx

Just put mine in. Thanks to the writer above. Easy, only 4 bolts and I was able to use the OEM bolts that are heavier duty than the Rival ones. We’ll see what the oil change dudes do with it. FYI I ordered when Rival first posted their product availability and were nearly on their June 30 commitment, and they provided a surprise 10% discount. Good luckYep, I haven't actually tried yet but the panels/cuts are designed to allow for oil changes without removing the entire plate.
Certainly the first time I change the oil after the install will be the real test. I don't think oil from the drain will hit the plate, but I was considering one of the oil drain adapters anyways. Coming from a Honda Element were the oil dumps on to parts of the engine/frame this seems much cleaner to me haha. Oil filter appears to be the tightest fit, probably depends on the tool one uses to remove it. I can get my hand in there no problem so I think putting in a filter will be easy. I will probably put my oil filter removal tool on a short extension to clear the plate. Worst case it is 4 bolts to remove the plate, which is easier than the felt one.
