In 2002 to 2006 I worked for a large city here in SoCal and we drove Dodge Neons, total POSs. Apparently a long gone inspector had been filling up the truck bed with job materials and other stuff he should not have been carrying.

My Neon was totaled in an accident and the replacement was a Hybrid Escape. Apparently the State of CA mandates the use of alternative fuel vehicles. So hybrids, plug in hybrids, EVs, hydrogen cell vehicles, etc. qualify. At the time there were no small truck alt fuel vehicles, hence the Escape.

I posed the question previously about fleet orders taking precedence before retail orders. The Maverick will and IS being used in fleets. If I were the department head, I’d be all over the hybrids. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Edit: One last thing. With the Cyberorange which looks yellow to me, I can’t help but wonder if the Maverick was intended to serve the taxi industry, you wouldn’t have to repaint it.

Honestly enough with “Ford dropping the ball” comments. Every auto manufacturer is having production issues…..all of them. You don’t think Ford wants to sell as many of these little pickups as possible?
I think Ford GREATLY underestimated how well the Maverick, especially the Maverick hybrid, would sell. Even Ford admits the Maverick is selling far far beyond expectations. Production issues or assembly issues? There is a difference. Since Ford is no longer the vertically aligned start to finish manufacturing company it once was, and is now very much dependent upon pieces and parts from third party, it is more of a assembly company than it is a manufacturing company. Yes, Ford does make some of their own stuff still, but not nearly like they used to.

I am glad for Ford on designing the Maverick and value pricing it.
The more they make and sell, the better it is for current and future owners. It will have great aftermarket support and part availability.
Kinda bittersweet though for me as I know my one Maverick order means very little to a giant Corp.
Also Ford is apparently incapable of capitalizing on the grand slam because production numbers are fairly dismal.
Hopefully Ford can turn it around soon.
The 1964 Mustang was a hit and they managed to pump out 400,000 and topped a million in two years.
That mustang was not being built during a pandemic lol

Put a Business Like Cap on it and you have an enclosed vehicle. 3rd party options are beginning to pop-up all over the place.

I think that new electric f-150 base model for 40k will end up being a pretty popular fleet vehicle as well.

The only manufacturer that doesn't seem to be affected is RAM. The lots are slap full of ram trucks and other Chrysler vehicles around here in SC.

Agree that Ford may have underestimated the popularity of the Maverick. They also overestimated the popularity of the Edsel. 😵💫Manufacturing runs are based on expected volume and can be slightly adjusted based on demand.

The issue with the Maverick, Lighting Pickup, Bronco and so on is supply chain issues.

Spuds, next time you go by your Ram lot, check and see what the typical MSRPs are. Now I know Chrysler dealers used to take 15 to 25% off sticker just for asking, but I'm not sure what they are doing now.
My Expedition was $50k - but I know there were plenty of other (Platinum) ones on the lot for $70k.

The sticker on my "being shipped" XLT hybrid? $24,500. I'm lovin' it, and I'm not even drivin' it yet!

I guess FORD was supposed to predict the pandemic and parts shortages. People cant find basic necessities but FORD should be able to get the parts needed for a truck. SMDH

“Ford is incapable”. For the thousandth time. They can’t get all the parts they need!

If ford could see the future they would've put the maverick at its own dedicated plant. We'll see how things move in the future with the Maverick.

I personally am not complaining that Ford's production numbers are low, it is understandable. I am waiting an unusually long amount of time for certain Smart relays at my job to get projects done also.
Just see a good Ole company that has a popular vehicle and cannot capitalize at this moment, darn it, sad for Ford.
I am still hopeful Ford can adapt.
