Ooh! New thought, possibly. A previous vehicle I owned, the turn indicator audible got very loud when you forgot to turn it off from other than an auto cancel from a full turn, IE: lane change (everyone does use their signals for lane changing (BMW & Mercedes drivers excepted))?

Since the OP said sitting for an extended light, perhaps that was it? Extra volume reminder for our (me included) older more forgetful drivers to cancel it? 🤭😇🤣
Not a bad idea really - but then it should be watching if actually moving and relatively straight line - then get louder. If sitting, get lower actually until you start moving again.

Now there’s a programming option for the Ford Brain trust! Turn signal on, moving, beep beep beep. Step on the brakes no beep, just flash flash flash.

We’re basically driving computers, right. One new minor sub routine!

At the time of my initial post, I considered if there is an actual blinker relay, or if it is tone generated through the audio system. I see responses on both possibilities, thus my inquiry. And it seems others have had the same response from folks on the other end of the line.

Now, I wonder how many of the responders really are thinking about their blinker fluid. Maybe just for the fun factor I'll start a thread asking what is the milage interval for changing that fluid......:)
You troublemaker! LOL

This whole discussion appears to be taking place in an assisted living facility.
watch, it whippersnapper, or you'll soon be pelted with stewed peas!

I can't imagine that there's an actual relay, rather than solid state, to control LED lights . . . [but then, that could be insufficient imagination.]

As long as you keep the Synthec grade, it should be fairly quiet.
nuts; I used semisynthetic. Are my wheels going to fall off in sync with the blinker?

but I am really surprised at the different sounds I had not been hearing well or completely missing and would not go back.
Like, "Take out the trash!", and "when are you going to mow the lawn?" ?

🤪

80 year olds are the silent generation.
so they're causing an apparent downward skew in age by reading without posting?
🤔

The 80 year olds grew up during WWII and Korean wars when there were many research programs to develope weapons including nerve gas and biological weapons. Also had purges from society of persons thought to be communists supporters etc. The saying "I could tell you what you asked but if I did I would have to kill you" became quite common the difference then versus now is that it was meant! Today it's treated as a joke! Those who are in their 80's tended to not talk about life or job limiting threatening things!

My wife and I have been marries 61 years.
I attribute it (or blame it) on gradual hearing loss.
Coming up on 54 years here. I blame mine on jobs. First ten years could go a week or more at a time getting home an hour after she left for work and leaving for double shift two hours before she would come home. Later had oil field work, about 16 years where I got every third Thursday 4pm through Tuesday 7am off, including six hours each way travel time. Actually had one motel room rented for 15 months (cheaper to rent by month and pay for weekend off than to check out and back in since room tax is not charged on 30 day or longer stays plus $6-$8 discount usually for any night you don't want bed sheets and pillow cases changed).

You do what you have to do to get to where we are today.
That lesson is one that needs to be taught to a lot of people who only live for the moment.

Come on folks, you really haven't thought this out well. THINK, folks! THINK!

You're driving along with a truckload of friends after a pleasant dinner out. You suddenly have this urge to cut a loud drumrolling gastronomical expulsion. To avoid embarrassment especially if one of the friends is a chick you're trying to impress you have the best light bulb moment of your truck. Its the ultimate distraction! BLINKY! Give it a try....you'll thank Ford later....

As I posted earlier……….
With your blinker contributing to your “cover”……….
Pull over, get out to check the oil.
Expell.
