The funny part about this is the maverick has better quality/reliability ratings than many trucks, beating out things like the Tacoma. The factory in Mexico that makes them is extremely well regarded for the quality of products it makes.
You are not wrong. Went from a Tacoma to this. Oddly enough, the factory in Mexico that makes Tacoma's is not getting a good reputation for their final year models on the gen 3's. It's a little funny seeing cultists trying to spit the kool-aid out before they swallow too much...

Not the Ranchero?
Even though the Ranchero was produced through 1979, I don't remember seeing a lot of them around as a kid (I would have been 10 in 1979; more interested in horses than cars back then. ;) )
I DO remember the Maverick as a car - my neighbors had a green one and, later, a silver one.

I find El Camino to be a good-humored insult. After high school, one of my friends set me up on a double date with some dude who drove an El Camino. Yeah, nooo thanks.

Still has an amusing connotation, though.

This is kinda what I say, I'm blessed with with a big one so I figured I'd get the smallest truck Ford makes. Honestly though more people ask me how long I had to wait for that
Yeah, I am very much in line with all the sentiment expressed here. If situations were reversed and it were me in the big honking truck, I'd feel horribly embarrassed because of how blatantly obvious I was overcompensating for MY INADEQUICY with my large toy and need to belittle others.

I love some of the awesome aggressive looking big trucks, but like someone said previously it's absolutely not used in 98% of the cases. Those that are needed and used don't look flashy either. How is it not universally known as "Man Jewelery"?

I think my reply would be a combo of others here and my own, "Good luck hauling air in your expensive man jewelry bro 😜, but I'm ok with the size of my junk!"

In a parking lot of bro-dozers, soccer mom Volvos and generic SUV blobs, my Maverick draws attention and comments quite frequently. I enjoy the jabs and don't hesitate to have some friendly banter with friends and colleagues. I did not expect it would be my 14 year old niece to take the award for best Maverick insult to date.

While taking my daughter and niece on a short shopping trip in the Mav, my niece remarked that it was quite nice and was "kind of like a beginner truck."

A beginner truck...like I'm just learning to truck!

So funny!

Anyone else with clever Mav insults?
I already had a coworker make a comment about me getting my "baby truck" once it comes in. Little does he know that I'm only 50HP less with the Maverick 2.0L Ecoboost vs his Silverado that weighs over 50% more and could prob take him in a 1/4 mile drag race! LOL!

Not to get too serious, but the one that gets me is when people call the Maverick a "cheap piece of Mexican trash":. Like somehow A) Mexico or Mexicans would be responsible for the materials chooses to make the truck out of, and B) that for some reason because it's made in Mexico, It's worse. Like somehow Mexican folks can't make cars, or Ford just threw open the factory doors and put people on the line (which I can kinda see them doing, but not exclusively to Mexico). Meanwhile, almost all the Maverick recalls include another Ford model, most often from the US. The Escape shares about half of them, and they make that in Kentucky, so the common denominator seems to be Ford, not the country of origin.
My old VW was made in Mexico. Nothing wrong with being made by Mexicans.
I was made by Mexicans as a mater of fact, and rather nicely if I say so myself.

Yo I'll take some hardworking Mexican worker's that probably are extremely grateful they work for a good company, over the drunk ass lazy American worker saying go talk to my union rep every day.

I get the typical "Get a real truck!". My comeback is usually, "Mine can haul air just as good as yours!"
" Your wife said it's not the size that matter" is what I say lol

My coworkers (almost entirely female) like to refer to it as “a little baby truck”, but all of them like it and always say it makes a lot of sense - and any opportunity to razz me is of course taken very seriously 😆

Downsizing from my 08 crew cab f150 which was a downsize from my Expediiton when my kids all started driving. Just like I downsized from my 4500 sf 5 b/r 3 story 1976 house with the pool and gigantic yard to a 2800 sf brand new house. Done the big truck. Done the big house. Sling the arrows as you will!

My (hopefully fulfilled soon) Mav will my first Mexico built vehicle. I’m looking forward to it. I strongly prefer J or K VIN numbers. I’ve had a couple of US built Japanese vehicles and they’ve been ok but not quite the build quality of the Js. We’ll see how it does.
