Another advantage to owning a small truck

Full-sized trucks have gotten so ridiculously huge, that many people might consider the Maverick a compact truck.
But this is closer to what I think of as a compact truck.

So much this! in no reality is the Maverick a compact and surely should not have parked in that spot. That said it appears no harm.

The 1st, 2nd and 3rd Gen Rangers were Marketed as... "Compact Trucks" as well.

Pup Trucks 006.JPG

Examples: my 2008 3rd Gen(Opus 2) and my 1994 2nd Gen (Pups)..

My 2022 Mav is 11.2" longer, 2.3" wider and 0.4" tall then the 2008, pictured here.
(Yes, I did research this data, when thinking about getting a Maverick..)
Not much more bigger, I'd say... ;)

You seem like an informed source on the matter...are the original F-100 Rangers considered the first Ranger?

Good question...
The "F-100" nomenclature started being used in 1953 and continued until 1983. (My First truck was a 1977 F-100 Custom) :D
And "Ranger" was first used an 'Edsel' model,. The badge for the "lower-end" Edsel.
It was than, first used as a "Trim level" in 1965 F-series and until 1981. When Ford then, decided to use the name for the upcoming "Ranger Compact Pickup" which debuted in March of 1982 (as a "1983" Model year).

  • Ranger XLT
  • Ranger Lariat (1978–1979)

Well, since I was the only car in the entire lot for the three minutes I was there I don‘t think I caused anyone harm.
The other 7 compact slots remained empty as well as all the regular parking places.

Did I mention that the Mav fit nicely in the compact slot with no overhang left right or rear?

I did a bad thing though didn’t I?

Based on the fact that my fishing rods don't fit in the bed, an SUV would probably be better for fishing.
A little hard to hook and cast though

Parking lots arent roads. Their rules are dictated by those in charge of lot security. In this case it was a burger punk. No worries.

I'll have no issue parking my Mav in a compact spot when I get it if there's enough room to park without fear of being dinged up. A certain level of common sense can be applied to parking in compact spots.

This

A full size pickup, or even a Ranger class, wouldn’t have been appropriate for this parking space.

The Mav fit fine.

You should have been arrested, clearly violated the rules for parking ( sarcasm font engaged) 🤣 If it fits you must acquit 😉

YEAH!
RULES ARE RULES!

Well, maybe not so much for the young 20-40 something age individuals who got the disabled placards from their doctor and use all the disabled spots in the parking lots.
Well over 50% of these people where I live are lazy cheaters who just want to park up front. I feel bad for the large population of elderly people who live around here who actually need those spots.

Oh, BTW, we also have some businesses around here that have ‘up front’ parking spots labeled “ Reserved for energy efficient vehicles only”.

Guess where I’m parking if everything else is full?

I remember those Ranger series, wasn't there also an Explorer series that had a big square hood ornament for the 78-79's, or was it used on the Rangers too?

Great knowledge drop!! stuff like this is why i hang out around the MTC. may i ask when and which vehicle first had Maverick name associated with it? i think it was the "compact" from the 70's but i'm not sure. i am sure that i want one of those original Longhorn emblems for my tailgate though :)
