My battery went out the day before the recall. I replaced it with an Optima battery. It wouldnt even take a jump. Total was $407. Submitted to Ford through my dealer and Ford sent a check about 3 weeks later for the full amount.

That was on an Ecoboost battery?

Has anyone with a defective BXT-99RT4-A flooded battery had Ford agree to replace it with the BAGM-H4 battery? My dealer says Ford will only pay to replace a similar battery which will most likely fail, too.
If a nice dealer, you may be able to pay for an upgrade to AGM - otherwise the warranty is only for what is spec'd.

The FLA battery you listed.
my 2024 Hybrid XL started "preserving battery" June 2025. Took it to the dealer, asked if they can put an AGM battery. Service advisor said battery was good but the BMS needed to be updated

4k miles and 4 months later (yesterday Octoboer 2025) , I get another "preserving battery" notification asking me to drive the truck. I was driving the truck all over the place the day before. Took it to the dealer service the next business day, I asked for an AGM battery again and the service manager said they'll have to check out whats wrong first. I get a text from the service advisor a few hours after dropping off the truck, "battery failed and we are replacing it with AGM"

Service print out shows "replaced with BAGM H4 battery". All under warranty. Didnt pay nickel. Hopefully this battery will last longer

Sure did, just a few weeks ago after a lengthy deliberation with the service manager. I did agree to pay a $100 upgrade charge using my Fordpass rewards so I didn't even feel it. This FoMoCo AGM retails for around $300 so it was a really fair deal. Especially considering they did the reprogramming, testing and software upgrade all while I drove a rental for a week on their dime. Additionally, IF Ford ever issues a battery recall for the hybrid, I will get a refund.
Now, after all of that I am still getting battery saver mode notification although not as often. Something still unknown is causing either uncharging of the battery or a parasitic draw. That test passed months ago but I will be taking it back AGAIN next week. They are calling in a Ford Service Engineer who apparently brings in more sophisticated diagnostic equipment than the service department currently has. It has been an adventure but I'm not ready to take drastic action just yet. If I didn't love every other aspect of this truck they would be buying it back. Good luck with yours.
Same here.. i love the truck minus the battery issues. I feel that with a new vehicle, I shouldnt have to think twice about taking my family on a long drive and not have to worry about the stupid battery.

All I can say is good luck. But congratulations on convincing them to install an AGM under warranty. It may not be the remedy for the dreaded battery saver mode you are hoping for however. There are some, such as myself that have been dealing with that issue for quite some time. And currently there is no known cause and of course no solution either. Because of this, I am close to completing a buyback from Ford for my '24 Lariat. Fortunately my dealer was able to locate a very suitable '25 Lariat to replace it. Hopefully you won't have to go through all of that.

Preserving your battery is a positive stance on what is the destruction of it. It's great that you show patience with an unresolved issue that is years old.

I was planning on keeping it another year before my 36k bumper to bumper warranty ends, but if it gives me ongoing problems, I will trade it in for a Toyota. This is our second and last Ford. We had an old old 2005 back then.

I was fine with my 2020 Tacoma, just didnt like the gas mileage and lack of power. I was getting 16-18mpg vs the Mav Hybrid's 35-40 mpg. I was hoping the rumored Toyota Stout would be available but i dont think thats coming anytime soon.

I received an AGM replacement, under warranty, during the last trip to the dealer for the dreaded "deep sleep".
Back story, just over 2 years issue free, then it happened. Dealers first attempt to remedy the issue failed 2 days after. The second attempt, they had the truck for a week, 6 notifications on the ford pass showing multiple system failures. I'm assuming they were trouble shooting. When I got the truck back, there was a 2 page invoice on what they checked and replaced, all under warranty. It's been 7 days and all is well, fingers crossed.
For anyone interested, I highly recommend Sunrise Ford North Hollywood, CA. Their service department is exceptional.

It's too bad the dealerships don't really get help and nonsense from Ford corporate and engineering. It seems like they have to test and guess about a solution. Or is it there are a multitude of design flaws that is causing the vehicle to kill batteries. I hope this works for you.

So I have had the deep sleep issue for a while now, thankfully it never went totally dead. Had it serviced yesterday and they replaced the battery. The service report shows replaced with AGM battery, but I dont think they did.

It does say Tested Tough, LMAO. What does that mean? It looks just like my 3rd battery, which was also 470 CCA and not an AGM, but a bigger CCA battery than it came with. When all else falls, throw a larger battery at it.

Believe it or not, I have my original battery in my 22 Hybrid. Last summer I was having battery saver messages. I bought a NOCO genius 5 from Amazon. I put it on the battery posts under the hood and let it run for about 3 hours. Now about every 3 months I will put it on to kind of top it off. I do drive it every day for work and on the weekends. I have 50,000 miles on it and all recalls have been done on it. The one thing I always do when I park it is, I push the keypad TWICE to lock it. That seems to shut down all of the stuff in the background.

It is nice to unlock it and see the interior lights come on. Especially now that we are heading into the "dark going to work and dark when leaving work" times.
