Battery life expectancy for hybrid Maverick?

Let's hope so, I feel leery enough just buying a Ford in the first place. Sorry Ford fans, that's just how I feel, whether it be a fear worth having or not. I've always owned Japanese vehicles, including my current 14 year old hybrid. Ordered the Maverick, but I'm watching the issues like a hawk, the long wait is actually a positive in my mind.

I own a Toyota Prius and have similar fear of Ford. Not gaining any confidence with the glowing catalytic converter issue. Hopefully it is resolved quickly. The other issues I’ve seen are insignificant to me.

I had a Ford Taurus and I had many problems with it. I said I would never buy another Ford. Never say never. I now own a Maverick Truck. All my others cars are Toyotas. They are mostly trouble free. I just hope my Maverick is almost as reliable as Toyota.

Right "align with vehicles age and mileage", however the warranty says 8 years or 100,000 miles. So that appears to me that warranty specifies years and mile stipulation. So ford says don't expect replacement after that specification as referenced to miles/years

I have a 2015 Ford C-max (bought in Aug 2015) with 172000+ miles on it with no problems. Also original brakes and just passed inspection with plenty of wear left.

Umm I ordered a hybrid, or rather the foundation did. So I am not certain where your statement is coming from. Plus my personal vehicle is a hybrid, with over 300k miles.

My concern is that my personal hybrid can and still does run without the HVB. Reports are that the Maverick can’t even limp without it.

Being a charitable foundation, we have to plan for every dollar spent because it affects how many people we can assist. The foundation has a staff of 4, none of us draw a single dollar in pay. We are all disabled ourselves or care directly for someone who is. We literally give over 100% of donations back into the community because we often pay directly out of our own pockets.

Therefore, we want to plan for the replacement of batteries and know at the beginning of a financial year that we can’t spend that 1,600$ because in January we have to plan for replacement.

When you have to count on the generosity of donors who demand open and responsible accounting for everything, you look at it differently.

Maybe budget a extended warranty so any issue should be mitigated within the length of the warranty and not have any budgetary surprises. I personally drive a 2009 Ford escape hybrid, battery still works.

Ford's ESP specifically excludes the HVB. Most third party warranties usually don't want to deal with the HVB either.

The battery has an 8 year warranty, 100,000 miles, I believe.
I had a 2013 Toyota Prius for 6 1/2 years. That battery was as good as new when I traded it in.

One reason the batteries last a long time is the car is programmed to be gentle. They only discharge down to about 30% and recharge up to about 70%. If you did that with your cell phone; the phone battery would last basically forever.

Good point, this is something most aren’t aware of.

Just a popped in to say Ford's battery warranty is likely the worst in the business. It seems unlike other manufacturers they do not cover excessive degradation. Most manufacturers consider 70% capacity the threshold for replacement under warranty, cheapskates (GM) drop it to 60%. Ford? No limit. It means if after 7 years and 90k miles you show up at the dealership with 10% capacity, much worse city mileage, if the car still runs you are SOL. Even worse, if it somehow quits causing the car to be unusable within that time period, they can replace it with a used battery/refurbished battery just to get you over the line...

I am a hybrid reservation owner (so not just hating on it), I am just fully ready to replace my battery, on my dime, at 8-10 years if I want to maintain max city mpg. You should too.

I don't know where you'd get that expectation. My Fusion Hybrid I traded in was 8 years and getting 43 mpg just fine. There's probably folks here with older.

As mentioned earlier in the thread there were the older generations Fusion that would need the battery life counter reset, but by all accounts they go back to original performance once that is done.
