  1. The need for an aftermarket exhaust on the Hybrid Ford Maverick

Anything after the second cat is not covered by emissions warranty. So technically they could cheap out there, with minimal impact to their bottom line. I agree most cars these days have a 400 series piping and some heavy gauge aluminized mufflers that have lasted me 7-10 years in the worst...
  2. The need for an aftermarket exhaust on the Hybrid Ford Maverick

For that price I would consider it, not bad for the coverage. I am guessing that is 3rd party. Last time I was offered something similar at the For dealer it was more like $2200... And you correct on the exhaust pricing, especially after this inflation. Ironically it is harder to find 409SS...
  3. The need for an aftermarket exhaust on the Hybrid Ford Maverick

I don't disagree, and if you HAVE to cheap out, better on a easy to replace part like the exhaust than the crankshaft bearings...
  4. The need for an aftermarket exhaust on the Hybrid Ford Maverick

Every time I've looked at ESPs in the past they were expensive for what they were. They always claim the full coverage time/mileage, even though most of the high value parts are covered by the basic warranty, at least for a significant portion of the ESP. Here you would likely want a 7 year...
  5. The need for an aftermarket exhaust on the Hybrid Ford Maverick

You don't have to be a metallurgist to see there is something wrong with the exhaust system in the video. Nor do you need to be able to do a metallurgical analysis "by eye" (which I am not claiming here btw, that's not a thing, I am saying something does not look right, and making educated...
  6. The need for an aftermarket exhaust on the Hybrid Ford Maverick

Yours does look way better (not sure if it has seen a winter/salt spray yet). That vehicle in the video is an early build, and there could have been "changes" made because of supply chain issues. Hopefully newer Mavericks will have better exhausts. Darnon is correct, at the very least you could...
  7. The need for an aftermarket exhaust on the Hybrid Ford Maverick

I am aware that 409SS is not "stainless", but I would not bet they using 409SS here. Pre-muffler, that pipe has some pretty severe surface rust on a 6 month old truck. That center muffler/resonator does not even look like aluminized steel, the cheapest option that you really should be using on...
  8. The need for an aftermarket exhaust on the Hybrid Ford Maverick

After watching Sandy Munro's last video of a hybrid on the lift, the stock exhaust seems to be biodegradable. So an aftermarket exhaust made with materials used post 1975 (either 409 stainless or even 304 stainless steel) would be highly desirable, unless you plan on getting your exhaust...
  9. Battery life expectancy for hybrid Maverick?

I guess your comment is fair. I don't KNOW I will see visible/measurable battery degradation at year 8 or earlier, just that I can't expect Ford to help out if I do. Good to know you got 8 years at maxish mpg, that's encouraging. How many miles did you drive?
  10. Is getting a sport exhaust worth it for a hybrid?

Maybe in Houston... A few people touched on it but I would like a nice 304SS option for the hybrid just because the stock exhaust looks like an aluminized POS. So after 6-7 years (maybe less) you do a SS catback, and you rest easy. Will there be something available? Hard to say, but I hope so...
  11. Battery life expectancy for hybrid Maverick?

Just a popped in to say Ford's battery warranty is likely the worst in the business. It seems unlike other manufacturers they do not cover excessive degradation. Most manufacturers consider 70% capacity the threshold for replacement under warranty, cheapskates (GM) drop it to 60%. Ford? No...
  12. 2.0 Maverick Straight Pipe Installed w/ Sound Clip

While it may have started as a weep hole, that looks jagged af. Definitely some corrosion there, and after 2700miles, it reminds me of the 40$ muffler they installed on my SUV (lasted about 3 years, rotted out, basically mild steel). Anyway I see a major opportunity for aftermarket exhauts here...
  13. Factory cruise control enabled on XL with Forscan and Escape steering wheel

What about the cost of the full steering wheel swap option? It would be nice to get leather at the same time...
  14. 2.0 MPG gas mileage tests (so far) and differences using 87 vs 92 octane

It's hard to argue about frequent oil changes on a direct injection (no port) with a turbo. But I can say without those 2 things, for regular engine, 5k is overkill with a good filter and synthetic oil. The car I am retiring now is a 2007 Saturn Vue with about 180k miles on it. Engine is fine...
  15. Factory cruise control enabled on XL with Forscan and Escape steering wheel

Thanks for the P/Ns. Lets hope by the time I get my hybrid the prices will still be similar. I see options prices are rising already on the Canadian Ford website, even with our dollar actually gaining ground...
  16. Broken front grill at 1000 miles

This is likely to happen a lot. I can't wait to see how much the parts counter wants for this POS piece of plastic. Most grills I have had in the past were louvers, or ribs with holes. You got a bit of reinforcement from the shape, so when it impacted the rock was likley to deflect/ding vs break...
  17. Tailgate not level with bed.

Also I have seen cables stretch, but I have yet to see one contract. A bit shorter out of the bag may be just the ticket to get it perfect down the road.
  18. Cruise control add-on

Makes sense, thank you for the honest response. I was mostly looking at whether that was a possibility, I get that it may not make sense for you to make a custom connector, when installers will be doing most of your volume and they are not clamoring for it. I don't mine sourcing the connector...
  19. Cruise control add-on

Thank you for the explanation. Are all the necessary power wires/signals available at the OBDII plug? Theoretically if someone was to make a custom plug to adapt to the non standard Maverick OBDII plug, could you have a simple plug in solution?
  20. Cruise control add-on

I would much rather do that than splice/solder into the harness. I keep my cars for ages and I would not trust that install would not cause problems. I would probably tape the plug-in harness to the OBDII port I use it so often :D Mr. Simmons, Is that an option for the Ford Maverick? Just plug...
