I don't know where you'd get that expectation. My Fusion Hybrid I traded in was 8 years and getting 43 mpg just fine. There's probably folks here with older.

As mentioned earlier in the thread there were the older generations Fusion that would need the battery life counter reset, but by all accounts they go back to original performance once that is done.
I guess your comment is fair. I don't KNOW I will see visible/measurable battery degradation at year 8 or earlier, just that I can't expect Ford to help out if I do. Good to know you got 8 years at maxish mpg, that's encouraging. How many miles did you drive?

I had a Generation One 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid. Used it 2005 to 2019. Was running great and the battery was at 90% original capacity and MPG was EXACTLY the same on the last day as the first day. Went 235,000 miles. Would still be driving it but it got rear-ended ending it's life prematurely.

The warranty on the HVB pack is amazing and consistent WITH EVERY OTHER CAR MANUFACTURER. The post a few back contains false and mis-leading information. But you won't need to evoke the warranty anyway. You will trade in or trade up or get rear-ended, or get flooding in a hurricane far before the battery "dies".

Sure; there can and will be defects. Those defects will be found and addressed during the warranty period. Period.

My experience from being involved with Priuses for some time is that when it starts a noticeable decline, the decline is very slow and you will have a long time where it continues to be functional yet degraded. At some point you'll just have a gas engine. It's kind of like a broken escalator: Please enjoy the stairs. Repairs for prius batteries are about 2-3k. They were way more when they are new, but once these are 10-15 years old batter technology will be WAY more advanced, and aftermarket battery service should become more common.

Does the replacement battery get a new warranty?
ANY warranty parts are guaranteed only for the remainder of the warranty unless the warranty is says away from expiring. And I think it's possibly 90 days from the day of installation. That goes for a light bulb or an engine. That's true for ALL manufacturers, not just Ford.

That’s fine in California, for the rest of us we have to go by the Ford Warranty Manual
I think he's saying that regardless of the warranty, since the batteries in California are the same batteries used everywhere, we should expect the life to be at least as long as the California warranty period since they are built to last that length of time or longer

When the Hybrid battery expires can you just rely on the “ICE” and forget about the battery or simply remove it?

The vehicle can operate with a significantly degraded battery. But it will NOT operate if the battery has failed. 1. The A/C compressor uses the high voltage system. 2. high voltage system is necessary for proper transmission operation because the “gear ratio “ uses one of the 2 high voltage motors to change the gear ratio. 3. It will NOT START . The high voltage generator is also the starter. So the high voltage battery is required in order to start the engine. Fortunately, the total failure rate of ford hybrid batteries is VERY LOW . We had a 2010 or 2011 escape in our .dealership for a problem unrelated to the hybrid system. The Hybrid battery was still in great shape when I test drove it based on the fact that it still drove in EV mode for a decent distance. An acquaintance still has an Escape hybrid from that era as well. I’m not sure of the mileage. But I know it was over 100k on the one in our dealership.
