Two words.....BLEEP NO!!!

I'll drive it through a completely touch less one if I want to do a quick rinse, but for the most part, I'll go to my local car wash and go into the booth, bring 2 buckets, microfiber mitt, water blade, & my drying towel and do it by hand. The one booth I use, charge by the quarter. Meaning you can go in and start for .25¢, where most require at least $2 to start if not more. And they just added a wheeled sprayer that is meant to roll under vehicles to get the undercarriage rinsed. That's my process. 👍

I'll let the debate rage on, but if you decide to run 'er through, be sure to turn off the auto hold/auto brake feature. I nearly forced the machine to shut down before I realized that my truck was holding the brakes on for me!
You sure that Auto Hold was the problem? Maybe "Hill Assist"?

I took both of our mavericks to the car wash last weekend. I looked all around for damage, did not find any. The only way to keep them clean in the winter.

For me it wasn't really about the clear coat scratching going through the automatic washes with brushes, it was the amount of soap left over and the debris that would come from others vehicles. Numerous times I ran a white vehicle through the car wash when I lived closer to town and it would come out with black scratches like oil stains from road repairs and all kinds of other crap. Which sucked, because it was a really cool car wash. But they used to take better care of it and even had a drying service after you ran through it. Now it's all automated and you get a back window full of soap (my Escape was awful through it) and whatever the person had on their vehicle in front of you is getting dragged across your paint. Plus, there is always the chance of error and something breaks.

That's the real reason to just chose a touchless wash instead or DIY it. There is not a car was around that doesn't have a sign stating they are not liable for any damages to your vehicle. Is it worth the insurance heartache? Nah.

Plus, some have you rolling through so close to other vehicles that all it takes is one idiot to roll into the back of you. The same car wash I mentioned has you pull in and they love to get people super close in the process. It's always so backed up they don't even consider a safety space. So naturally, I sat there one day because someone pressed the gas instead of the brake and hit the person in front of them, which caused the machine to also be damaged due to that vehicle moving forward when it shouldn't have.

Just food for thought on those kinds of washes. Too risky for me. I already risk it every day sharing the road with these idiots, I'll keep my distance when I can.

I tested this today.

Auto Hold does nothing unless you press the brake pedal more than a little bit. Need to depress it, I don't know, half an inch or more (but didn't get out a measuring tape).

Tried it in Drive and in Neutral.
It does nothing if the truck comes to a full stop. It does nothing if you press the pedal hard enough to activate the brake lights. It does nothing if you press just hard enough to stop the creep.

You must make a deliberate, firm press of the brake pedal to activate it.
It will activate in Neutral.

If your truck is being pulled through a car wash by rollers, in neutral, and the car wash pauses, nothing will happen.
They (Ford) have planned for this.

It DOES say you can only be in neutral for 30 minutes without setting up neutral tow mode.

You missed Brutus the Barber Beefcake.

I wish there was an option for just going through a car wash for only the undercarriage. I'd just hose off the rest or go to a self-service, but I'm always more interested in getting the road salt off.

Agreed. I do the spray coin op. No brushes. Wet Spray wax when I get home so the next batch of dirt doesn't stick.

Touchless car washes are efficient and eliminate all of these issues. They have always been my choice.

Page 185 of the 2022 Owners Manual has steps to enter temporary neutral mode if you want to exit the vehicle for a car wash and keep the motor running in neutral. Otherwise If you exit the vehicle while the vehicle is in neutral, it automatically returns to park, and most car washes want you to leave the vehicle in neutral. The other option is to stay in stay in your vehicle, keep the vehicle in Neutral while the truck is running.

Does anyone run their Maverick through the automatic, brushed car washes? Does it work ok, without hurting the truck?
Took mine through once. I have the clear bra protecting the front end and it did get scratched on the bumper. So, haven't done it since and hand wash it at the car wash. Only takes me 15 min to wash and towel dry.
