I usually get bored with vehicles after 4-5 years. Being that the Maverick will strictly be a commuter for me, I will probably keep it 10 years. Adding $5,000 or $15,000 in options does not change the $22K quality point. It just adds a few nicer things. The one I ordered is $25,240.
Oh I agree. No matter what additional things people add, the truck is still built the same. Nicer seats (arguably), moon roof, etc. doesn't change what it is at its core.
I do like my truck quite a lot, and don't drive it nearly as much as some other folks. Mine is probably treated a lot better than most, being garaged and only going an average of 50 miles a week.
I'll most likely keep it for a few years, but while the market is still hot for used vehicles, I figure it's at least worth a look at what else is out there. Particularly if it is something that'll have less issues.

Um... no.

I have 17 years experience driving Specifically Ford Hybrids.

A 2005 Escape Hybrid. (235,000 miles)
A 2010 Fusion Hybrid.
A 2018 Fusion Hybrid.

(Also a Prius, Rav4 Hybrid, and Venza Hybrid - current Wife's car.)

This one is doing lots of things it shouldn't be doing. I'm not talking fit and finish.

I'm talking spit & sputter. Bumping & grinding, smoke & smell type stuff. I'm talking engine and powertrain.

And I know what I'm talking about.
Sad. I so wanted to love this truck.
First generation Escape Hybrid was bulletproof. Then this. SMH
My employer uses a huge fleet of Escape Hybrids, they get beat on and aside from 12V battery issues the drivetrains have been extremely reliable. I assumed that the Maverick Hybrid would follow suit but it seems like the vast majority of issues reported here have been with the hybrid powertrain.

Mine (Mav) is still drivin down the road but only at 2400 miles I've had more than a few "what the hell was that?" moments.

ā€¦I've had some expensive duds. I've also bought cheaper cars than the Maverick that were screwed together far better.
What was not adequately screwed together on your Maverick?

My concerns are more mechanical. Iā€™ve never had so many issues in the first 14,000 miles of vehicle ownership. Iā€™m happy I decided to get the extended warranty but the trips and time without my vehicle is very annoying.
What issues did it have?

I've never had a car of any age or price rattle as much as the Maverick. Hell, it's not even really "rattles" so much as it sounds like panels flapping around. It's not one or two, eitherā€¦
Mine is solid and quiet. What was your build date?

ā€¦itā€™s a cheaper vehicle and itā€™s made in Mexico.
This Mexican Ford plant won Best Quality in Ford North America in 2021.

Even high-end vehicles are being built in Mexico these days.

Interesting timing of this internet story:

There's only 7 vehicles with 1% of owners driving them past 250,000 miles. Look at #6

1. Toyota Sequoia: 296,509
2. Toyota Land Cruiser: 280,236
3. Chevrolet Suburban: 265,732
4. Toyota Tundra: 256,022
5. GMC Yukon XL: 252,360
6. Toyota Prius: 250,601
7. Chevrolet Tahoe: 250,338

Only 1% of Tesla Model S exceed 134,000 miles.

Currently my hybrid is at the dealership with a check engine light for an engine misfire with all the symptoms of a misfire. Only 14,000 miles. This is not a good sign.

Whatā€™s a misfire? A bad spark plug wire or something like that?

It could be 100 different things. Some minor some catastrophic.

My Lariat Lux is on its way to a new home. I had hoped I would love it, but I was just disappointed with it every drive. I probably expected more from it than it was ever going to be.

Yes, I still have another coming. It is not for flips, it is for a family member.

Iā€™d be happy if Ford would just fix the horrible windshield ticking/clicking noise that a lot of us have commented on. Makes driving it miserable unless I just leave the radio blasted so I canā€™t hear it. A lot us need windshields to either be removed and reinstalled or replaced completely.

Keep pressing your dealer like I am. This is unacceptable. I've had the issue since April.
