Anyone else had a visceral, BAD reaction to actually seeing one of the colors?

I feel like Ford should have offered Alto Blue on the XL. It would have been sweet with the interior. But, that would have made sense and Ford really isn't into that.... 🙄

I sat in and checked out a Alto Blue Maverick that a Tester brought to my local dealer. Later drove a Cactus Grey at same dealer. Most of my new car purchases over last 20 years have been some version of Oxford White (usually the cheapest vehicles on the lot). Had a Red/Orange 1975 Chevy LUV and similar Red on my 1987 Ranger + a Sonic Blue (similar to VB) 2006 Ranger. Currently we have a White F-150, and I have a deep Blue Metallic Grand Cherokee.

Initially, I was going to go Oxford White on my Maverick order after completing my Build and Price version 1.0 as I like the contrast with Black body cladding. Then found out there was actually 2 versions of Oxford and 1 was pink tinted- not taking a chance on that and we already have the F-150 so dropped White. I like the Hot Pepper Red- saw in person on a Ranger at dealer- but not paying extra for a simple color choice! Silver is out for safety/visibility reasons. Part of my problem is I just don't like the overbearing look of the Mav headlights- looks cartoonish- and I wanted a color that would kind of mute that front end and blend it in with overall look better. Then I saw Carbonized Grey on a couple vehicles and it grew on me and seemed to better blend in the plastic body cladding as well as take emphasis off headlights and I was sold on it.

I have to say the Alto Blue and Cactus Gray were my least favorites in person, but different strokes and all that 🤷‍♂️

I'm really pleased with the HPR and would choose it again (actually I did choose it again - I got two of them). It's a great looking color that provides a little variation based on lighting. Some of the other colors are interesting but if I had any other besides the HPR, I'd prefer the Oxford White - it is simply a classic clean option that will stand the test of time.

I've seen most of the colors other than Iconic Silver which is the color I ordered. Most of them seemed to be about what I expected. The only one that surprised me was the Oxford White, it looked a lot nicer than I expected.

My old silver Ranger held up fine for 20 years.

But, after 20 years of silver, I wanted something different. So I opted for A51. And while I waited eight long months, I saw dozens of photos of A51, and started to get tired of it. Now that I’ve had it for a couple of months, I’m back on board with A51. It just has so many great loois under different lighting.
Excellent! I have had Silver paint last a long time but those cars were taker car of and parked in a garage.

In Southern Cal most of the cars I see with sun damaged paint are Silver.

I like the colors that are easy to keep clean, for a daily driver. I don't personally care for bright colors, even though I think they do look good, they just don't match my personality.
I have a black 88 mustang, but it mostly stays in the garage. My top choices would be Silver, White, Cactus Grey, Cabonized Grey. My last car was silver and easy to keep clean, my current truck has the Magma color and is hard to keep clean, it might as well be black.
I did see a black FX4 maverick that looked really good, the black plastic blended nicely.

I've yet to spend any quality time with a Mav, only caught a few going by in traffic or briefly stopped at a light. I was so surprised at a few of the colors IRL! The A51 was top of my list... Until I saw one in a parking lot. I liked the Cyber Orange until I actually saw it in person, way too yellow. Latest surprise was the Iconic Silver I spied in traffic the other day, it looked so ... Bland in person. So now, of course, I'm second/third/fourth guessing my upcoming order and color choice, lol!

But really just curious if anyone else had an in-person wow/no moment?
I have the cactus grey as well and have had many compliments on the color. I did see a blue one (XLT) in the show room ready to be delivered that was the same tint but blue and looked sharp. I wasnt impressed the with the shiny medium blue finish(alto blue) I saw today driving by. (Only have seen 5 Mavs in my neck of the woods)

White was my first choice, I think it's clean and sharp against the black accents, but where I live that means I'd really NEVER find it in a parking lot -- pull up to Home Depot on any given day and it's a SEA of white trucks!

That one was central Cal, parked on the street.

I got cactus gray. Ordered before seeing one. Later saw it on a big bronco and it was exactly what I had expected. No complaints.

Seeing velocity blue in person looked different than the velocity blue mustangs I found on Google. The Maverick i’m velocity blue looked like a color you’d put on an economy car to get teens to buy it.

Cyber orange in person is different. You either love it or hate it.

Silver looked better than I thought after seeing in person.

Area 51 is fine.

White didn’t do it for me for some reason, though my previous Ram 1500 in white looked great to me.

The first edition red was too mature/dark when I saw one at my local Walmart. But maybe would look better in bright sun.

Haven’t seen any other colors yet.

that is still one fine looking Ranger!
It held up well, without any fussing over it.

the guy who bought it was very happy to find such a nice old truck.

In my experience, the trendy colors don't age well. For those of you who can remember purple Ranger's and teal Escorts, you know what I mean.

Dodge can pull it off with their Chargers and Challengers, however.
They offer the Maverick in retro purple and teal colors now?

I originally ordered a Hot Pepper Red Lariat, and changed my order to an Iconic Silver XLT.
Very happy that I made that change and I remember that frequently when I see my truck!

The black trim contrasts nicely with the Iconic Silver. Silver is likewise timeless, it looks less dated than the fad colors for those that keep their vehicles a while.
You are right! Black and silver don't get tiring like the trendy colors will.

I’m with you. None of the colors seem to look the same in person as on the web.
