Adios - I bought a Ranger

After waiting 15 months for my Maverick and taking delivery in April of this year, I realized it wasn't the truck for me. There was nothing wrong with it, in fact, I think the Maverick is a fabulous vehicle. It is just enough truck for most people, but I wanted to do a little more with it, mostly towing more than 4000 lbs. I found a screaming deal on a lightly used Ranger Tremor, and decided to make the trade. On the financial side, I got 93.5% of my purchase price on trade even with 8000 miles, so that was pleasing. The main thing I miss from the Maverick so far is the interior storage. Ford really knocked it out of the park with all the interior storage, especially the cavernous under seat storage in the rear. Anyway, thanks guys, this was a great community and i wish you all the best.

Reading the title I thought this was going to be another angry post. So glad you liked your Maverick and happy you got such a good trade in value! The Maverick doesn’t fit everybody and the Ranger is a good truck also! At least you stayed in the family Enjoy your new ride but I’ll bet that forum isn’t as fun as this one

Curious why you didn’t order a 6th gen Ranger. What did you like more about 5g? Price? Ford ruined ranger pricing for 2024 sadly

It was $42k w/ 8k miles, so it was still 88% of MSRP but I felt my cost to uplift to it was really good.

Three things, first is the one I bought was lightly used, so there was a decent discount off MSRP (see prior quote). Second, exactly what you indicate, the 6g ranger is WAY more expensive. Third, and most importantly, this was partially an impulse buy. I saw the listing for the truck on the lot that day, it looked good and appealed to me, and I was able to negotiate a satisfactory deal with the selling dealership.

I hope your Ranger serves you well. I traded in my 2023 Mav for a 2020 Ranger.

I miss my Mav, especially in the storage department. I'm just waiting for my 24 Mav. The open theory is that I'll fall for my Ranger, but we'll have to see on that.

I wouldn't doubt that Ford "could" build more Mavericks (and not make as much money) as "starter" vehicles and get more people into more expensive trucks later in life. If they want to play the long game instead of immediate profit margins that is...

(I believe they could make more Mavericks now but choose to use chips and other resources more on the more profitable/ expensive vehicles.)

yeah I figured as much. Didn’t mean that to come off as negative if it did.

ford really botched the 6g launch. Horrible price increase, hardly any options or colors, removed the 2door, and so much more.

I dig the Ranger Tremor it’s a good looking truck. Congrats. I think I’d miss the storage of the Maverick as I use it a lot. That said I would have went with a 5th gen ranger as well. The prices of these new gen trucks are completely out of control.
