The base XL only comes with 4 tie-downs. I added 4 more. I used an aftermarket tie-down on the side wall rear at the TOP similar to the one already installed by Ford. For the ones on the FLOOR towards the front I used a flip anchor ring. I’ll leave a link to all these parts below.

You’ll need a tap wrench with bits that can cut M6-1.0 and M8-1.25. See image attached for which one is which. I can confirm that my job was done 100% correctly and that I used M8-1.25 on the front end floor holes even though Ford says they are M6-1.0. Don’t listen to them. They’re flat-ass wrong.

You’ll also need 4 hex bolts that are 20mm long and match the M6-1.0 on side wall holes, as well as 4 hex bolts that are 20mm long and match the M8-1.25 floor holes.

Ford uses nylon or plastic washers on the side wall tie-downs between the tie-downs and the bed. Seems odd to me since washers typically go under the bolt. Anyway, I included ones that match the specs Ford used. I didn’t use any washers on the floor flip ring anchors.

One tip when tapping the threads is to use some oil. I used WD40. Im sure somebody will criticize that but it worked fine. Also make sure to be as straight as possible when cutting and go in reverse a little bit every time you make a full turn. Blow out the holes with compressed air afterwards to remove metal shavings. Wear goggles or close your eyes!

I didn’t put anything on the side walls where the optional rail goes on higher trims. Some people put in eye bolts but I don’t like that idea since they can turn easily when torque is applied and they’re not as stable. But those pre-tapped holes are M8-1.25 if you’re planning on adding something.

Good luck and enjoy your Maverick 🍻

Nice Job! My 2025 Lariat came with every tie down I could imagine but it’s nice to see such a quality installation. I am waiting on my bed mat from Ford I like that these tie downs fold down not sure if the mat is slotted or just covers them

It’s nice to see a write up for the same thing on the same truck at least once a year. Did the bed configuration change from 2022 to 2025?
That’s what I’m wondering. Since Ford says the bottom threads are M6-1.0, and they clearly are not, maybe that’s how it was in prior models? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Take care drilling holes in the bed floor near the cab. Ford had a recall because someone drilled holes into the fuel tank during building some trucks.
Very very true. I can’t comment on the safety of any other holes in the floor except for the specific ones I tapped in the pic you see. Once my tap made it through the metal, I took it out. I experimented by passing a long metal rod through the hole and I didn’t hit anything for at least 3 inches. You’re safe.

Correct!
Though, the location to worry about is on the Driver's side. Right above the Fuel Tank...

Darklyter,

Your actually not making any holes. The holes for these are already there, they just don't have any threads. Back in April I did it when I had my XL and it was the first time I have every threaded anything and it went very well. I just took my time and went only as far as I needed to. I was able to tell once i was through the hole and then just reversed the tap. It was a very easy process.

Yep. It was easier than I expected too. I probably spent 90% of the time researching the correct sizes and parts ahead of time. The actual installing took only 10 minutes per tie-down.

Nice job. I did the same with my 2025 XL. It went great. I added some extra tie downs I had left over from my tail gate dampener/shock install into the stock threaded rail holes. now I have 14 tie down points in back!
