The gear/motor type eCVT is so radically different than a typical belt CVT that it makes me wonder from a marketing standpoint, why they have similar names. Doesn't Ford have meetings?Worth noting that the eCVT in the Maverick hybrid is significantly different than a traditional CVT and should be much more reliable.
Agreed. But I guess the ones that are willing to research go the spoils? The gear/motor type eCVT is so radically different than a typical belt CVT that it makes me wonder from a marketing standpoint, why they have similar names. Doesn't Ford have meetings?
If I was in the meeting I would suggest calling the hybrid tranny "EMGVT" for electric mechanical gear variable transmission.
Get away from the disaster of go kart "CVT" reputation.
Isn't truck under warranty for 5 years or 60,000 miles which ever comes first.Hello everyone, happy new year! What a better way to start the year than with a transmission that slips like a toddler on ice?
At just about 64,500 km / 40,000 mi my transmission began slipping. It was very sudden, only took 3 days to go from slight slip every once in a while from a dead stop to having to floor the damn thing to get the truck moving and being damn near impossible to go up inclines at slow speeds.
Thanks to the many other posts here I knew I was doomed. I took the video below before going straight to the dealer, which was thankfully only 1 minute away. Sorry for recording while driving but I needed evidence lol.
The dealer took my truck on December 17, next day the advisor said corporate at Hermosillo sent over some tuning files for the transmission that did nothing, and were awaiting for further replies. Yesterday they finally asked me if I authorized them to drop the tranny, as it would be like 1,000 dollars in labor if it isn't covered under warranty. I'm glad I bought the extended warranty. (1,000 dollars is kind of outrageous at Mexican labor costs if it seems not so bad lol)
Starting to have problems?...Even the Toyotas are starting to have problems...
Lol I was always told they were the most reliable but they started throwing new transmissions and turbos in that have had a few problems on there recent models.Starting to have problems?
A lotta people been waiting a long time for these supposed vehicles that, so far, are nothing but vaporware in the US.Wait and see what Toyota comes out with, I'm sure theres something on the way.
ThisOne of the main reasons I went hybrid w/ the ecvt
Not in Mexico, there's only the 3 year / 60k km (37k mi) bumper to bumper with no extra time or mileage for the power train. I do have the extended 6 year / 120k km (74 k mi) warranty available here.Isn't truck under warranty for 5 years or 60,000 miles which ever comes first.
Why would dealer even ask you that you maybe have to pay 1000? The dealer knows their warranties
