I’ve actually made it to 622 miles with it showing 50-60 miles to empty. Not that impressive as I once got 605 with about 30miles to empty with my 22 ecoboost AWD Mav and I once got 800+ out of my 3.5 ecoboost 4x4 supercrew but then again it had the extended range 36 gallon tank That was on a trip to California and back from Arkansas, I refused to pay those high California gas prices.

As long as the pump is pumping fuel, it won't over heat, when it quits pumping shut it off and put some gas in out of the jug your carrying for when it runs out, My EB has a 37 mile reserve past zero miles on the gauge digital display.

I would reach 600 miles per tank if it weren’t for the fact that more than half my miles are at speeds higher than 80 mph. So no. No 600 mile club for me.

Has anyone else noticed they the mileage continues to increase over the first couple years? - First summer I was ~49-50 mpg during the summer, last year was ~52-52.5, and this year the truck is showing ~55 (actually 55.2 as it sits in the parking lot). For the record, I stopped pressing the mode button 4 times for Eco a year ago, so that's using normal mode too. Apparently the hybrid system's ICE really needs 10k or so to fully break-in, with half or better (60%) of the miles being electric.

Your efficiency skills / driving technique get better and better too, subconsciously, if you are a fuel use watcher.

Anyone get better than 620 miles per tank?
Yes - several times. But usually under, as driving scenarios just don't allow it.

And - the check engine light is not used as reminder to change oil.
Manual doesn't say so.

Your vehicle lets you know when an oil change is due by displaying a message in the instrument cluster display.

Also doubtful if you are getting this good MPG, you are reaching 0% OLM for 5K oil change.
Unless you've done some major towing prior to this tank, or high speed highway. I know it ain't a year!
Something else is likely going on. Find your screen to see your OLM % to confirm.

THE INTELLIGENT OIL LIFE MONITOR

Only reset the oil life monitoring system after changing the engine oil and oil filter.
  1. Press the menu button on the steering wheel to enter the instrument cluster display main menu.
  1. Select Vehicle Maintenance.
  1. Select Oil Life.

One tank, or one fill up? 😁

white-f150-2-wheel-drive-5-speed-dual-tanks-1.jpg
I remember those old fords had dual tanks around 35 gallon total. Then ford switched to either a 26 or extended range 36 gallon tank. I always went for the extended 36. Once got over 800 miles on a tank when I was on a trip to California. I filled up just outside of California and made it back out of California without buying their high price gas.

So close! My mistake was taking the "wife alarm" along with me on this particular outing.

And yes, my mileage has been much better this summer. Does summer gas have less ethanol?

I can't seem to get any better than 37 mpg, and some of my little 5 mile trips in town show me that I've used half electric and I'm only getting about 26 mpg. 🤔

I don't know about you - but I've seen plenty of hyrid drivers drive in a manner that doesn't help the ICE usage one bit.

So while half the miles may be ICE - there are ways to be efficient with gas too. And inefficient.

years?

heck, I calculated actual mileage after the first tank, noted that it was less than a percent off what the trucklet thought, didn't make the trivial compensation, and haven't looked again!

[ok, on individual trips, it amuses me sometimes to watch. And I do take a picture of both the dash and the pump on every tank, so I could go back if I felt ambitious.]

As long as the pump is pumping fuel, it won't over heat,
now the you put it that way . . .

but more seriously, once it runs dry and pumps air, does the computer shut it off as a safety precaution, or does it continue to get juice and pump until its own thermal cutoff (if it has one)?
