Does the strut make lifting the tailgate harder or slower? TIA

Nope.

Actually, It seems to makes lifting the tailgate a little 🤏 easier.​

When you've dropped the tailgate, you've compressed the air in the damper cylinder.
When lifting, that air is being expanded as the rod goes back into the cylinder.
Pneumatics, making life easier and more convenient.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered. I searched it and nothing came up. Please share any experience anyone has with the ford tailgate assist product

I have a new in box tailgate assist (can't remember the brand) and a new in box hitch cover as well and I don't plan to use either one of them. Probably would be too expensive to ship (I'm in Michigan)?

Just picked up our 25 2.0 Liter AWD XLT and the tail; gate assist is one of the best upgrades we've done.

Damn straight it's worth it. Paid $29 on Amazon then bought two new tailgate tie down rings for $10 then bought a Torx Plus set (oh I hate buying tools - NOT !!) and ten minutes after that the tailgate no longer hits me like someone threw it

The Ford branded one is $50 I believe. I got mine on amazon for about $20.

The ford one is more BUT if you have points its FREE and covered under warranty for 3/36, which is no big deal it should last 3 years, am on my 3rd maverick and have tons of points.
So, till I use up my points, I will stick with ford stuff...
