I wonder if cutting the offending tie-down in half and using only the side/lower half would provide enough clearance for the shock.

I am planning on installing a fold-out D-Ring on the tailgate where this one bolts on (red bolt). As long as it folds down without any overhang, it will provide the second tie-down. Anything off the edge of the tailgate will hit the damper shock.

Good Afternoon,
My truck is scheduled for delivery at the dealer on Oct 22 (Lariat Lux, FX4, 4K, EB), but some of the accessories I ordered have already arrived. I thought I'd share some pictures with everyone.

The mats are a real nice heavy duty rubber and the logo is double shot into the mat (injected as a separate color) so it should hold up very well.

The tailgate letters appear to be laser/waterjet cut from metal and have a very reflective black finish, the instruction sheet says they are made by PUTCO.

The tailgate assist is made by DeeZee and is sealed in the package, I don't plan to open that until I'm ready to install it.

I definitely want the floor mats. I installed the tailgate dampener on my maverick...I love it! The only thing you have to remember to do is take off the driver-side tie-down that doubles as a bottle opener located on the tailgate. So essentially you lose one tie-down but its not a big deal when you already get so many. :)

Any update as to how this worked? I love this idea, I plan on trying it myself when my order comes in. The tailgate dampener is so nice to have but I also don't want to sacrifice losing a tie-down in the tailgate.

There is another thread where someone has done this. I don't have a truck to try it on yet!
