I love the fact that you are able to figure out thes ratios, etc and have the equipment to do it.

A bit over my head but when I get some time I do want to sit down, take my time and try to understand at least some of it!

So, I finally sat down and had another look at my truck e-manual and verified my truck has a 3.37 rear end.

I did the survey, now that I had something to go on.

I put my vote in on the 3.37 final for the 2025 AWD w/ the HF55 as I just got done looking through all the changes from HF45 to HF55. Starting with the differential helical gear, it was changed from 61 teeth (HF45) to 64 teeth, and the differential driver gear on the transfer shaft changed from a 21 tooth to a 19 tooth:

Old HF35 was similar, but with a 23/59 (2.57) final set. 10.39 HF45 traction motor to wheels total reduction, 11.10 HF55 traction motor to wheels. HF45 4.086 (2.91 final) total reduction planetary ring to wheels, HF55 4.915 (3.37 final) total reduction planetary ring to wheels.

People 'like' shift shock.

There's even a button to turn it on in the hybrid Maverick.

My 25 AWD hybrid has code 33 on the door jamb, which is a 3.37. Older hybrids had code 29 which is the 2.91 final drive.

The HF55 looks to have some beefed up components vs the HF45 for sure.

I will say it would be interesting to buy a 22-24 hybrid in ten years or so when they get cheapish and really beat on it towing wise and see what it can sustain long term.

Likely the manufacturing cost, not only is the transmission itself probably more expensive than making a clutch pack automatic, you also need at least some little battery or ultracapacitor to make it work. Now that copper is going to increase in price ~50% and rare earth magnets likely also become more rare/expensive in the US, the price difference to manufacture will probably increase even further in this market. Plus, you lose some of the efficiency advantages of the overall powertrain if you couple it to a more powerful non-Atkinson engine, although you can make an efficient and power focused combination by using a Miller cycle forced induction engine which combines the benefits of Atkinson and turbo/supercharger engines.

Mine doesn't simulate shifting in sport mode that I can tell
Others in 25MY have reported it does the same as prior years.
Try it again, radio off.
They fire off pretty quick if really pressing the Go pedal, and it's smooth still since not an actual shift. But even going slow can be noticed.

This snippet shows the torque when it's done, obtained by changing the ICE and generator/gearing motor RPMs.

You're right - appears to be pretty chintzy 5 speed, unless letting my foot off would have gotten me a nice 6th over-drive gear - maybe a 7th at 80 mph?

Without the downshifts though, it just misses something.
(thinking about a post that said their hybrid was giving rough shifts, perhaps mimic a manual mis-shift, oops wanted 3rd got 5th!)
