2025 Hybrid Gear Ratios & HF45 Transaxle Technical Info

My 2025 paperwork, window sticker, etc. says:

  • 2025 FWD with 2.91 Final Drive Ratio

Since eCVT transmissions are strong, simple and reliable why don’t they just use them in all their vehicles?
An eCVT will only work if you have 2 power sources, so models with a gas-only drivetrain can't use it. You could lock the 'differential' because of the lack of a second power input, but then you'd be left with a 1-speed transmission that won't get the job done.

If you have a 2025 Hybrid, you have a 3.37 gear, not a 2.91. All 2025 Hybrids are HF55/3.37. Check your axle code on the b pillar by the driver's door. It will be code 33.

A very good point, as we know every penny counts when mass producing vehicles of all types.

In the off chance that old parts made it into the my2025 trucks, the referenced placard in the door jam would necessarily indicate what is installed in that particular (and in my opinion, unlikely) situation...not the 33 we see for our 2025 axle code, it would indicate the installed axle code from the previous model year.

Maybe this is why some orders, every year, get rolled over to the new model year, as they have used up all the expensive bits that are being changed...they won't do an extra order for a couple hundred, so it is better to roll customer orders into the new my...this is efficient and logical, to my way of thinking.

Of course, I could be mistaken in my line of reasoning.

Tesla is the only manufacturer I know of that makes it impossible to tell what parts are in your car based only on model year, they do running changes all the time which makes servicing them incredibly annoying and far more complex than it needs to be. They even put messy 3d printed prototype parts on some of the early run cars as a hot fix just to send cars out the door, the examples I saw were HVAC duct parts that were just haphazardly changed right on the production line.

Everyone else always just has a defined parts list for that production year, the most I've ever seen a real auto manufacturer do a running change was on a mid year model refresh, like my old VW, they had a year where they did a mid year engine change, and so the parts catalogs have a split, so your model year was 2003 or 2003.5, for example.

Some of 22's got different frequency TPMS.

They are sent to inventory as replacement parts. They are not used on the next model or ground up. This is Ford, not AMC.

My father had a 1957(?) Plymouth that had a problem I don't remember what, maybe tire wear? After 7-8 months he stopped to fill up, was followed in by some one who said "your car is going down the road crooked". Dealer checked it out and one side had a rear spring for a 56 and the other side had a different length spring for a 57 so the axle was angled an inch or so from where it should have been.

My 2005 Rav4 was the last year for 2 exhaust banks & 2 O2 sensors up & downstream.
My specific mid-year made version has the 2006 version of 1 bank. Matches the pictures. Fortunately had it with me picking up new sensors to compare pics, explained why no reading from bank 2. Nice savings surprise.
1 other item worked on well before O2 sensors I chalked up to incorrect info in manual and auto-parts online info, but wondering if same deal, partial upgrade to next year's version.

It's not the 50's anymore.
The 2022 Maverick has two versions of tail pipe. Has two versions of climate control. Some came with 4G hotspot and some didn't. Who knows what else.

These smaller changes are probably more common, I see them in parts catalogs, like I looked up that TPMS on the 2022 and Autel has a callout for Built to 12/22 Built from 01/22, but I've never seen a running change mid year on large stuff without some kind of big catalog distinction, like a model year split like VW did, or I think it was in 07 Chevy did a old body style/new body style thing split across full size truck trim levels or something. To change a whole engine or transmission without some major split year differentiator would be strange indeed, they'd usually have to change sale literature and manuals and who knows what else. Although I was really curious if the FWD/AWD would have a difference, as the HF55 seemed to really only be for the 4k package and they didn't offer that on the FWD this year.
