It’s pretty simple, the Jeep 4XE is a Plug-in ELECTRIC Hybrid and it can be driven for hundreds of miles over the course of several weeks without starting the engine, if your use case is short trips with recharging in-between.
The Maverick is a GAS Hybrid, so 100% of the energy to move it down the road comes from fossil fuels. There is no way to drive a Maverick much more than a few blocks without having the engine start.
The Plug-Ins have to have these sorts of engine/fuel monitors to protect from issues related to lack of frequent use of the engine and fuel systems.
