The “best” mileage I got was in eco mode on a highway run, 17.5.
Eco mode is not the most enjoyable drive. Kind of feels like the parking brake is stuck on with eco.
i’m dismissing any sort of “user error”. I drive carefully and gently most times. In fact, if anything I’m very conscious to drive to maximize economy.

I brought the Maverick into the dealer today, not the dealer I bought it from. It was reading 14.7 when I brought it in. They said I could leave it there but they wouldn’t even look at it for at least a week! They clearly did not want to deal with a car they didn’t sell. They told me several times to take it back where I bought it.
they also said there’s probably nothing wrong with it, and that’s the mileage it gets.
Im very disappointed in the Maverick, and very disappointed with Ford.

Not a good look for Ford. I would call Ford directly, contact the YouTube maverick reviews and piggyback off of them, then start posting the issue everywhere online squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Spent a lot of time on the phone with Ford Customer Service today. They contacted the dealer I bought it from and requested a loaner/rental while it’s in their shop getting diagnosed and sorted. The dealer told me they don’t have loaners or rentals available. So I wait. Ford is actually being very helpful in trying to sort it out and get me something to drive in the meantime. They’re very nice at Customer Service, although I spent nearly an hour on different holds.

I don’t want to know my insurance cost. It would make me irate. 21 years of driving not 1 claim.

Yes I know it’s peace of mind but that’s money down the drain in hindsight.
Im the opposite.....Im so into insurance companies its not even funny. Sad thing is I have had one wreck that was my fault in my life. It was when I was 16. But I have been hit by uninsured motorists 3 times....had limbs destroy the bed of my 350 during a hurricane and a few other comp claims. Not to mention a serious wreck when I was run off the road when I was 22. That one alone paid out almost 200k between uninsured and medical bills.

Look up the lemon laws in your state. You have had it back in once already. As sad as the dealership is that might be the route. Dealerships can ruin an experience. Unless it is a lifetime warrantied item, I will never use the dealership I bought from because they are idiots.

Looks like a number of EcoBoost owners will be getting even worse MPG numbers as they will be turning off the Auto-Start-Stop feature on their EcoBoost Mavericks.

https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/auto-start-stop-hybrid-ecoboost.1996

From some of the posts in that thread:

I don't particularly like the auto-start-stop function : it can be disabled per every key cycle via an On/Off button

There are aftermarket companies that “auto start eliminators” if you don’t want to have to push the button every time.

BMW's you can get them coded not to do it, wonder if the maverick is the same way

On an ecoboost, you will need to put in the appropriate FORSCAN code to disable the feature. There are many threads on this in other forums (Mustang, Ranger, etc)

On my GTI there was a wire you could unplug for the stupid air stop start bs. Getting an error message in the computer was well worth it to disable that feature.

https://www.autostopeliminator.com

One should be available for the Maverick soon. Problem solved.

That's awesome news! Would hate to have to push a button everytime I get in the car :) That will be one of my first add ons for sure.

If you sit in stop and go traffic 3 hours per day maybe it will make a difference but for most people I suspect the stop-start won't make much difference on MPG. I live in the country and only go through 3 lights on my drive to work 20 miles away so it's wouldn't be stopping much for me anyway but I'm still going to disable it as I find it annoying.

14-15 MPG sounds like a problem though. I would think based on what I've heard that even a 4K tow AWD would still get above 20 and more like 23-25 if driving politely :)
