1 year, 21,931 mile, 40.9 MPG Hybrid Maverick Owner's Review

Phenomenal 1 year hybrid review, 365 days. 21,931 miles, averaged 40.9 MPG (for last 19k miles). TROUBLE FREE with exception of radio freezing up a few times for a bit. No issues with the truck or the hybrid system. Hauled my enclosed motorcycle 6x12 trailer for a few of the miles, on 55 mph roads. No issue towing it. Right at the max weight. Used the bed to haul sasquatch wheels/tires, vespa scooters and more.

On a 1-10 scale, a SOLID 10 for me. To think I got all of this, in an XLT model for 23k. Unbelievable. NO regrets here. I gotta give it a HELL YEA!

oh yeah...NO stone chips or windshield stars/cracks...of course I don't tailgate folks or drive gravel roads and I speed past semi's/trailers to avoid time behind them due to road debris.

I got it 12/23/21 in SE Michigan. Last year I had no issues in the snow. Front wheel drive, and it has more ground clearance than most FWD suv's out there. I don't see any issues.
PS: I have a Granger EB maverick as well. I would DEFINATELY wait out the hybrid...UNLESS I must have either 4WD or the 4k tow pkg. Hybrid is the CLEAR winner, due to MPG.

I am in SE MI as well and my Hybrid (7K miles) has gone from 40-41 MPG to 32-34 MPG since the cold weather has returned. I thought it was excessive so I am glad to hear that it may be unique to mine and possibly resolved. I run on ECO mode mostly and have been doing 80% city driving.

yes, we WILL and DO take a hit in the cold weather. I see 30-35 MPG in the winter. The spring, summer and fall lift the MPG numbers. Winter sucks...for everything...MPG, LIFE and health

Thanks for the review! I noticed your trip odometer has 19 k (my lariat trip OD also shows only 4 digits of miles) on it for the 40.9 average. Seems like you shorted about 3k miles of winter driving here in Michigan. Cold-weather really clobbers the fuel economy. We picked up ours January 18, 2022 and no reset of the trip OD. I’ll check in with our full, 4-season MI mpg numbers in a few weeks.

Yes, I did reset it at 3k. I let it go since then, so yes, the first 3k miles were in Jan/feb and were not included in the 40.9

I averaged 32.6 MPG in my Hybrid over 15k miles...We have freeways here in CA where the speed is usually around 65-75mph.... Getting over 40mpg for over 20,000 miles is really good, do you drive slow?

My miles are probably 35 percent hwy, 65 city. I drive 68-70 on hwy, in the city I use the coaching screen to try to max out my "electric" miles. I do not hypermile, or drive excessively slow. I do coast coming to lights/stop signs and I don't do jackrabbit take offs, but I do accelerate enough to get up to speed. I would not be happy with 32 MPG with my hybrid.

I live in Central Valley California and our short winters are abt 35-40 degrees in cold morning. I drive mostly city. And he will have a home in the garage. I hope I don’t see too much of a drop on mileage.
