How is the bed holding up without a liner? I've been debating on whether springing for a spray in is worth it. I will just be using the truck for household projects so the worse I imagine subjecting it to is plywood and maybe bags of mulch.

incredibly well...no scratches that I have noted...and as you can see...I have used it. I do put a moving blanket down when necessary...but by no means do I pamper the bed. Looks as new as the day I picked it up. honestly.

I am glad you are loving it! I use my hybrid for a work vehicle. I already have 20k miles on mine, and it has hauled around 1500lbs of concrete, an entire tent setup for a festival, and a full sized sectional. Couldn't ask for more.

I'm in MI and drive a hybrid. My mpg has dropped when it got cold. Right now I'm getting about 38 to 40 mpg. I drive about 8 miles on the freeway (70 mph), 16 miles on the road (no faster than 55) to & from work and I do coast when coming up to a stop light.

I just completed half of the round trip I did a week ago in my Maverick Hybrid. On the first trip, I got about 36 mpg going from Austin to Dallas, and just over 38 mpg returning. The temps were in the 60’s for that first trip.

This morning it was 11°F when I left Austin, and even colder (8°) when I got to Dallas. There was also a direct headwind of around 20 mph. So even though I was driving the same speed (77 mph) most of the time, that headwind made the aerodynamics more like I was driving 97 mph, and these combined to hammer the efficiency…. The computer is showing about 25-26 mpg for this trip segment, where it was fairly accurately reporting the ~37 mpg before.

I just took it out and finally tried out the Slippery mode. The roads have not been plowed and I live in a pretty hilly area. No issues with my 2wd Hybrid. It climbed a couple of hills without breaking a sweat. I feel confident it will be just fine around SW Ohio (unless we get more than 6 inches of snow) My Element also did fine for the last 16 years.

I Love this truck!

Phenomenal 1 year hybrid review, 365 days. 21,931 miles, averaged 40.9 MPG (for last 19k miles). TROUBLE FREE with exception of radio freezing up a few times for a bit. No issues with the truck or the hybrid system. Hauled my enclosed motorcycle 6x12 trailer for a few of the miles, on 55 mph roads. No issue towing it. Right at the max weight. Used the bed to haul sasquatch wheels/tires, vespa scooters and more.

On a 1-10 scale, a SOLID 10 for me. To think I got all of this, in an XLT model for 23k. Unbelievable. NO regrets here. I gotta give it a HELL YEA!

oh yeah...NO stone chips or windshield stars/cracks...of course I don't tailgate folks or drive gravel roads and I speed past semi's/trailers to avoid time behind them due to road debris.

SW Michigan here with the ongoing blizzard. Haven't left town and now nothings open anyway. Been stuck in the driveway a couple of times trying to turn around and used it as a learning. Need to turn the traction control off and use normal or Trailering mode to get unstuck. Still coming down hard and the winds packing the snow hard. Will play more later.
So far 14,000 miles and 9 months real happy. Probably mid 40's for gas mileage.

26K on my hybrid in almost a year. I can report the same feedback as yours. No issues, great mileage, best vehicle I've ever owned.

yes, we WILL and DO take a hit in the cold weather. I see 30-35 MPG in the winter. The spring, summer and fall lift the MPG numbers. Winter sucks...for everything...MPG, LIFE and health :)
having similar experience, 12 below temps and i am getting 30 - 32 mpg..big drop from summer 40-50 mpg

I drove our Hybrid Lariat from Cedar Park (N of Austin, TX) to Plano (N of Dallas, TX) for Christmas – a distance of about 190 miles. On the way up, it was between 8º and 11º (depending on which weather report you choose to believe) and the wind was a direct headwind at a steady 20 mph. Driving 77 mph, we only averaged 26.8 mpg (calculated at the pump, but the Mav's computer reported 27.1 so it's pretty close). I know the cold contributes to reducing mileage, but that headwind made the aerodynamics equate to driving 97 mph, which definitely dropped the mileage quite dramatically!

Four days later, we drove home, this time with two other people and their baggage in the truck. Temps were between 55-58º, and winds were basically calm... I haven't refueled to confirm the computer reading, but it's showing 38.5 mpg for the return trip. (And as I've mentioned before, the computer has been within 2 mpg on every fill-up to date.)

Now most of the "trip" driving is over for a while, and I'm looking forward to seeing what the Hybrid will do in town!

Thanks for the review! With 11,000 miles, I couldn't be happier with this truck. My only concern is that I commute 65 miles each way to work and the prospect of the dreaded "Dead Hybrid' is always in the back of my mind. Wondering how many miles need to be logged before I no longer need to be concerned...

I am in SE MI as well and my Hybrid (7K miles) has gone from 40-41 MPG to 32-34 MPG since the cold weather has returned. I thought it was excessive so I am glad to hear that it may be unique to mine and possibly resolved. I run on ECO mode mostly and have been doing 80% city driving.
Same here in MN. Mine has mostly highway miles (about 80%), but the MPG's are down in the low to mid 30's now.
